“Be shattered, O you peoples, and be broken in pieces! Give ear, all you from far countries. Gird yourselves, but be broken in pieces; Gird yourselves, but be broken in pieces. Take counsel together, but it will come to nothing; Speak the word, but it will not stand, for God is with us.” Isaiah 8:9-10

“Be shattered, O you peoples, and be broken in pieces!” is being spoken to those who came against the Israelites, spoken through Isaiah by the Spirit of God. That also refers to the wrath of God’s judgment that He will bring against the global government and its global culture. They serve the beast that gives give what to speak, do, think, and feel while opposing God, the Christ Jesus, and the presence of the Holy Spirit.

“Give ear, all you from far countries” is letting us know that the judgment of God is not just one country, not just one side of the world, nor some other restricted territory. The enemies of the Lord are from far countries, all across the globe, and are gathered together through the United Nations. The United Nations was formed in 1945 and brought the government of the beast with it, as described in Daniel 8:1-14. They will be broken in pieces, as quoted, “Therefore wait for Me,” says the Lord, “Until the day I rise up for plunder; My determination is to gather the nations To My assembly of kingdoms, to pour on them My indignation, All My fierce anger; All the earth shall be devoured with the fire of My jealousy.” Zephaniah 3:8

“Gird yourselves, but be broken in pieces. Take counsel together, but it will come to nothing”. The United Nations can come together to devise ways to prepare and protect themselves from the judgment of God, but it will be meaningless. Global warming is already giving the global government a hard time. They are scrambling for ways to turn back the heat, and it happens to be the Fourth Plague of Revelations 16:8-9. With that, there are the other six of the Seven Plagues the government of the beast has to deal with, on top of the events of the Seven Trumpets in Revelations 8, 9, and 11. The counsel of the members of the United Nations comes to nothing, which eventually leads to the Battle of Armageddon [Sixth Plague of Revelations 16:11-17].

Today, the government of the beast has its way in the world by just speaking the word and people do it. The beast governs by giving people what to speak and do, but it will not stand. The power center of the beast is plunged into darkness in the Fifth Plague of Revelations 16:10-11. At that time, the beast will be powerless to govern, powerless to give people what to speak, do, think, and feel.

God is with us. He returns when the Seventh Trumpet sounds as described in Revelations 11:15-18, within the events of the Seventh Plague. That is the Day of the Lord as described in Zachariah 14.
