“And in a window sat a certain young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep. He was overcome by sleep; and as Paul continued speaking, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead.” Acts 20:9
In those days, windows weren’t glass but were still something that everyone could looked through to see what was going on. And many had a space large enough to sit in. Eutychus was sitting in a window on the third floor, while Paul was speaking about Jesus Christ. The young man became very tired, fell asleep, and fell from the window. In those days, hearing about Jesus came through those who had a personal experience with Him and was able to share the Good News through their own born-again experience. Faith truly came by hearing. There wasn’t a New Testament to pick up and read, which explains why so many gathered to listen to Paul speak about Jesus all through night. While Eutychus fell asleep in the window, Paul continued to speak about the message of the Cross. The young man fell three stories to the ground and was determined to be dead.
Today, there are followers of Jesus Christ who have been listening to sermons in the manmade churches, on television, through some type of social media or internet, or reading the Bible for themselves. For them, they become weary and tired of hearing about and reading the scriptures while waiting for the return of Jesus Christ. These are the Christians that today’s culture want to spotlight, people they want to sit in the window for everyone to see. They want all the community to believe it is futile to serve Jesus Christ as Christians are spotlighted falling asleep in their wait for the return of Jesus Christ. Falling asleep to their faith. They want everyone to see how Christians are falling dead in their weariness in hearing the word of God.
Habakkuk, by the Spirit of God, encourages us to wait for the promises of the word of God, referring to His return, the coming judgment, and eternal life. “For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” Habakkuk 2:3 We are living in those appointed times, and prophecies are being fulfilled in front of our eyes. A list of a few prophecies fulfilled since 1945 is seen in the post on Habakkuk 2:1-4…….Click here for the table of contents for Habakkuk.
Global warming is in the world, and this is definitely a sign that God is still working in this atheistic world. Global warming is the Fourth Plague of Revelations 16:8-9. The more powerful the United Nations become as the one world government the hotter and more intense the effects of global warming becomes.
“Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord…Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” James 5:7 , Psalms 27:14
“Then [Jesus] came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.” And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy. So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words. Then He came to His disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.” Matthew 26:40-45
The purpose of today’s culture, which is global, is to put Christianity to sleep, to cause the death of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As the Holy Spirit says to us, “…knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation…But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.” 2 Peter 3:3-4, 7
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
