“And it will come to pass in that day that the remnant of Israel, and such as have escaped of the house of Jacob, will never again depend on him who defeated them, but will depend on the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.” Isaiah 10:20
“In that day” refers to the day when the global government and its global culture are defeated, as described in the post on Isaiah 10:12-19 The remnant of Israel, and those who escape from the destruction of Jacob/Israel, are the survivors of the Battle of Armageddon, as described in the post on the Day After from Ezekiel 39. The remnant will never again have to depend on the global government of the beast that conquers them by its power over physiology to impose upon people what to feel, think, say, and do. They will have Jesus as their King and Lord in the eternal New Jerusalem. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are the remnant who remain faithful to Him until His return.
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12-13
“The remnant will return, the remnant of Jacob, to the Mighty God. For though your people, O Israel, be as the sand of the sea, a remnant of them will return; the destruction decreed will overflow with righteousness.” Isaiah 10:21-22
The Israelites began with with the twelve sons of Jacob. Jacob’s name was changed to Israel in Genesis 32:28 so the twelve tribes of Israel were named after each of his sons. From those twelve, they ended up in Egypt as 70 people, when Joseph was second in command over Egypt under Pharoah. While in Egypt, they grew to hundreds of thousands before their exodus from Egypt. In that way, the earthly promise to the Israelites, that they would grow to numbers like the sand of the sea, was fulfilled. What’s remaining of the Israelites of today is found mostly in the State of Israel and the United States, that is the remnant of today. However, from the multitudes of the remaining Jewish people of today, only a remnant, a very few, will return to the lord through Jesus Christ, as described in Ezekiel 39. The wrath of God’s judgment, bringing their destruction due to rejecting Jesus Christ, will overflow with righteousness for the repentant remnant.
Today, the house of Jacob is all of us who seek God through Jesus Christ, as quoted, “This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, who seek Your face.” Psalms 24:6 We are the faithful few remnant that have returned to God by acknowledging Jesus as the resurrected Christ and Son of God. The promise was made to Abraham that his descendants would be like the sand of the sea. At the time, there were only Abraham and his wife Sarah, both way too old to have children, but God granted them a child named Isaac, who gave birth to Jacob, whose sons gave birth to the Israelites. Abraham believed God for the birth of his son Isaac, so by that we learn how “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Romans 4:3 In that way, our belief in God through Jesus Christ is counted for righteousness and we are the descendants of Abraham, through Jesus, “Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ…and if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:16, 29
Now we know that we are the seed of Abraham through Jesus Christ, made as numerous as the sand of the sea. However, there has been a global falling away from God as described in 2 Thessalonians 2. The global population lives for the beast that gives them what to speak, do, think, and feel. We who remain faithful to God through Jesus Christ, through all of the hostilities from today’s culture, will overflow with righteousness on the day of the return of our Lord Jesus. Through the global chaos, suffering, lawlessness, and destruction that is coming in the very last of days, there will continue to be a few faithful to the testimony of Jesus. Enduring that tribulation will end with overflowing righteousness in the eternal New Jerusalem.
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18
“For the Lord God of hosts will make a determined end in the midst of all the land.” Isaiah 10:23
The Lord God is bringing an end to this present heaven and earth and creating a new heaven and earth where the New Jerusalem is, our eternal home overflowing with righteousness. Click for a post on the Day of the Lord from Zachariah 14.
“Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” Revelations 21:1-2
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
