“For the people do not turn to Him who strikes them, nor do they seek the Lord of hosts.” Isaiah 9:13
At first reading, or just reading half of that verse, we might think, “Of course people don’t accept those who hit [strike] them!” But the Lord is referring to discipline that should turn people to Him. For example, chaos, violence, social upheaval, etc. are the consequences of not living in the presence of the Holy Spirit by belief in Jesus Christ. We are struck, or hit, by the consequences of our unbelief in God. The Holy Spirit speaks these words to us, “Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.” Hebrews 12:11-13
Isaiah was speaking to the Israelites, who did not recognize that what they feared the most was coming upon them because they turned away from the word of God. They feared being conquered, captives, oppressed, and slaughtered, by an invading army. They were not living by the Ten Commandments nor practicing the sacrifice of animals to atone for their sin [prophetic of the Lamb of God who atones for the sin of the world]. They refused to return to the Lord, who was bringing His judgment against their rebellion through an invading army. In their fear of being conquered, they refused to seek the Lord.
Today, those of the State of Israel do not realize that what is happening to them is the judgment of God coming against them. They refuse to return to God through Jesus Christ, they are not seeking a reconciliation with God by acknowledging Jesus as the Christ and Son of God. The Lord gathered the Jewish people to the State of Israel in 1948 as the place where He unleashes His judgment upon them [Judgment for rejecting Jesus Christ], “Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Because you have all become dross, therefore behold, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. As men gather silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin into the midst of a furnace, to blow fire on it, to melt it; so I will gather you in My anger and in My fury, and I will leave you there and melt you. Yes, I will gather you and blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and you will be melted in its midst.” Ezekiel 22:19-21
If the Jewish people would have said “Yes!” to Jesus Christ 2000 years ago, the Jewish culture would never have existed from that time and the Jewish State of Israel would never have come into existence. The Holocaust would never have happened and none of the 18 Israeli wars [since 1948] would have occurred. That’s because as Christians, we do not have a country on this earth to call our own. We live in nations around the word as citizens of those countries. Our country is the New Jerusalem in the new heaven and earth. The Lord is striking Israel, but they do not turn to Him in repentance, they do not they seek Him in the name of Jesus.
“Therefore the Lord will cut off head and tail from Israel, palm branch and bulrush in one day. The elder and honorable, he is the head; The prophet who teaches lies, he is the tail.” Isaiah 9:14-15
Because the Jewish people of today refuse to turn to the Lord and to seek Him through Jesus Christ, the head, tail, palm branch, and bulrush is being cut off. The head and palm branch goes together as does the tail and bulrush. A palm branch represented victory, peace, and honor as did the head of the Jewish people. The tail and and bulrush goes together because the bulrush was a reed in marshy areas that was flimsy and easily bent [like a wet noodle] as are the prophets who tell lies.
The Jewish governors are no longer honorable people of peace and triumph because they have led their people into constant conflicts and wars. “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.” Zachariah 4:6 The honorable leaders of the Jewish people have been cut off. Also, the prophets of the Jewish people are not dependable for the Jewish people to lean on because they are flimsy due to their lies. Their lies are that Jesus is not the Christ and Son of God. Without Jesus, none of the Old Testament prophecies will ever be recognized and amounts to leaning on a wet noodle for support, “For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Revelations 19:10
“For the leaders of this people cause them to err, and those who are led by them are destroyed. Therefore the Lord will have no joy in their young men, nor have mercy on their fatherless and widows; For everyone is a hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly.” Isaiah 9:16-17a
When leaders mislead and prophets tells lies, the younger generation is brought up by their teachings and examples. The Jewish people are being brought up in errant beliefs and are being destroyed by following bad examples. The Lord has no joy in the young men and women who have learned to have no belief in Him, to reject Jesus Christ, and to not make the Holy Spirit part of their life. The Lord will have no mercy on the widows [those without Christ as the husband] and will have no mercy on the fatherless [those without Christ as their Father]. Everyone from the very top of society to the very grassroots of society becomes a hypocrite, evil doer, and speaks foolishness.
Today, the governors and leaders of society set an example by teaching the people under them to live for the beast that has power over physiology to give them what to speak, do, think, and feel. The global population is following their teaching and example, as quoted, “All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life…” Revelations 13:8 The “him” in that verse is the beast of the image and mark of the beast. The Lord has no joy in the young men and women of the global population, and will have no mercy on them in the Day of the Lord. “Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, “Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, that you may eat…the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great.” Revelations 19:17-18 At that time, just about everyone is a hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaks folly.
“For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.” Isaiah 9:17b
Today, we see how the honorable governors and the prophets of Israel have been cut off due to causing the people to err by withdrawing from Jesus Christ. However, it doesn’t stop there, His anger is not yet turned away and His hand is still stretched out against them. We know that because they will suffer devastating destruction as revealed in the post on the Day after the Battle of Armageddon from Ezekiel 39.
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
