“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder, and His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Child that was born, not just a son, but the Son, the Son of God. He was born by the Spirit of God, without human semen, through the virgin Mary. “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin will conceive and bear a Son, and will call His name Immanuel” Isaiah 7:14 Immanuel means, “God with us” “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 1:18 Our Lord Jesus is the word of God made flesh, “And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14

Jesus is the fulfillment of Bible prophecy, and is the Great Light that came to the whole world, beyond the boundaries of the Jewish culture, “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; Those who lived in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined.” Isaiah 9:2

The government is upon His shoulder, not the government of this world, but the government of the Kingdom of God, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” Luke 17:20-21  “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight…” John 18:36

Our Lord Jesus is the Everlasting Father and in Him is eternal life beyond the grave, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace, not the type of peace that this world brings with guns, bombs, cybersecurity, security cameras, military, etc. but He gives the peace that comes in the presence of the Holy Spirit. “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27

Jesus is the Mighty God, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?…The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.” John 14:9-11 God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are all one, that is the Holy Trinity. If a person believes God, they also believe Jesus Christ, and are living with the Holy Spirit. If a person says they believe in God, but not Jesus, then they are serving a false god. If someone acknowledges Jesus Christ, but are not living in the presence of the Holy Spirit, then they are serving a different Jesus. If some one opposes the presence of the Holy Spirit, then they have no part with God and Jesus Christ.

Our Lord Jesus is Wonderful, wanting us to have abundant life, to live in His Light, to receive eternal salvation, and to be forgiven of sin. He came to save not destroy.

Jesus is our Counselor, counseling us in the way of life in the Spirit, to be a light on our path through this dark world. He counsels us to live for the Spirit and not for the desires of the flesh.

“Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.” Isaiah 9:7

What more could be said than that? “Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end…” Eternal life is our inheritance. Our Lord Jesus is of the house of David, both being of the Tribe of Judah, sharing the same lineage by earthly standards. The Christ, Jesus, sets on the throne of David, not over an earthly kingdom, but over the eternal Kingdom of God.

The Pharisees referred to the coming of the Christ as being the “Son of David”, not the Son of God. They believed that the Christ would restore the kingdom of Israel to its original glory, on this earth, exclusively for the Jewish people. Isaiah indeed said that the Christ would set upon the throne of David and rule over his kingdom, and establish it with judgment and justice. That would be accomplished by the Hand of God, the Lord of hosts. Isaiah also said that the Christ would be the King of an eternal Kingdom, one with no end and would last forever.

As we know, the Kingdom of God is not just for the Jewish people, but for anyone who believes in God through Jesus Christ. Whoever believes in Him will have eternal life, and that is by the will of God, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Jesus emphasized to the Pharisees that the Christ is the Son of God, with an eternal multinational Kingdom, not the “Son of David” with an earthly Jewish kingdom. Jesus drew to their attention that David called the Christ his Lord, not his son…as quoted below,

“And He said to them, “How can they say that the Christ is the Son of David? Now David himself said in the Book of Psalms: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” ’ Therefore David calls Him ‘Lord’; how is He then his Son?” Luke 20:41-44

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25
