Mediums, wizards, and a land of hunger, trouble, gloom and darkness.

“And when they say to you, “Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter,” should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living?” Isaiah 8:19

The Israelites began to seek direction in their life through mediums [fortune tellers]. Even today, we have the image of fortune-tellers and mediums who speak in soft, low, and often eerie voices that seem to be coming from the the ground. Isaiah further describes the voices of mediums in the following verse, “Your voice will be like a medium’s, out of the ground; And your speech will whisper out of the dust.” Isaiah 29:4

During the day of King Saul, he had closed the door to God, but needed spiritual answers, so he consulted a medium of seances. That didn’t work as he had planned, which is described in 1 Samuel 28.

The Lord forbids the use of fortune-telling and mediums because they turn people away from seeking answers from Him through Jesus Christ. In fact, that is an Old Testament law described in Deuteronomy 18:10-12

Fortune-telling and seeking the advice of mediums had a lot to do with boosting the esteem, dignity, and respect of those coming to the medium. The mediums would cause the spirit of their clients to soar which was a way to hunt souls, to turn them away from God. That is described in the post on Ezekiel 13. Here’s an excerpt, “Likewise, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own heart; prophesy against them, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Woe to the women who sew magic charms on their sleeves and make veils for the heads of people of every height to hunt souls! Will you hunt the souls of My people, and keep yourselves alive?” Ezekiel 13:17-18

The Israelites were using mediums who were convincing them that the confederacy based on military might and economic prosperity was a good thing. They were avoiding the word of God that said judgment and sorrow would come on them for depending on power and might instead of His Spirit. The mediums built up the confidence, esteem, and ego of the Israelites to make them feel good about turning away from God and living by worldly standards.

Today, the State of Israel is an example of what happens when people seek advice from mediums of this world and turn away from the word of God that says we need to receive His Son Jesus as the Christ and our Lord. Whatever mediums the governors of Israel are listening to, they have chosen wrongly to lift-up the confederacy with the United Sates. They have been in 19 wars since they were established as the State of Israel in 1948, and have drifted very far from accepting Jesus as their Christ.

We live in a world today that depends on mediums to persuade people to turn away from God to live for the values of this world. They are mediums who convince people that it is OK to serve the beast that gives them what to speak, do, think, and feel. Those mediums build up the dignity, respect, esteem, and ego of others to draw them away from God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. They serve the creature human being instead of God the Creator.

“To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” Isaiah 8:20

The phrase, “To the law and to the testimony!” was saying to the Israelites that they needed to return to the word of God, the Ten Commandments, the practice of animal sacrifices to atone for sin, and to love God with all of their heart, soul, and mind. The Israelites needed to quit depending on mediums that were serving the agenda of the confederacy and merely making the Israelites feel good about themselves in the progress. They would not express themselves through the word of God and there was no light in them, the mediums stole the light from them.

Today, the Jewish people need to return to the word of God. As described in their own Old Testament, Jesus Christ is spoken about, even from the words of Moses, as Jesus said, “…if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?” John 5:46-47 The Jewish people do not speak according to the word of God through Jesus Christ because there is no Light in them. Jesus is the Light of the world, to reject Him is to rely on the ways of this world, and that makes people blind to what is really happening in the world today.

“They will pass through it hard-pressed and hungry; and it will happen, when they are hungry, that they will be enraged and curse their king and their God, and look upward. Then they will look to the earth, and see trouble and darkness, gloom of anguish; and they will be driven into darkness.Isaiah 8:21-22

The Israelites turned from God and depended on mediums for direction, all in their eagerness to embrace the confederacy with a foreign military power and the economic prosperity that came with it. Through Isaiah, God promised that the land would be filled with hunger and poverty instead of plenty and wealth. In their distress, they cursed their king who ruled over them and cursed God. When they looked upward, there was no help for them, and when they looked downward, the whole land was filled with trouble, darkness, gloom, and anguish.

We see how those of the State of Israel are hard-pressed on every side and their land is filled with trouble, darkness, gloom, and anguish. They are starved of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the presence of the Holy Spirit because they curse the word of God. The word of God says that He sent Jesus as the Christ and whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. When they look upward for help, there is no help coming because of the rejection of their Savior.

Today, the global government and its global culture celebrates their confederacy with the beast that gives them what to speak, do, think, and feel. They celebrate the prospect of the prosperity of the global economy and dominating with the collective force of the global culture. However, they will find themselves hard-pressed and hungry as the collapse of the global system collapses, as described in Revelations 18. They will continue to curse God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit and will also curse those who govern over them. They will look up into space, looking for help from their false god, where the space satellites and space station are, as described in Ezekiel 1. The power center of the beast is plunged into darkness, as described in the Fifth Plague of Revelations 16:10-11. There is nothing but trouble, darkness, gloom, and anguish on the earth in that day. While that is mentioned in post on the Fifth and Sixth Plagues, it is also mentioned in the post on the Day of the Lord from Zachariah 14.

Speaking of the global government and its global culture, the Lord says this [through Joel], “A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness…a people come, great and strong, the like of whom has never been;
Nor will there ever be any such after them…a fire devours before them, and behind them a flame burns; The land is like the Garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness…” Joel 2:2-3 Click here for the full chapter of Joel 2.

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25
