1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 also speaks on the day of the Lord.

The Day of the Lord comes at the end of enormous tribulation.

“Behold, the day of the Lord is coming, and your spoil will be divided in your midst. For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; The city will be taken, the houses rifled, and the women ravished. Half of the city will go into captivity, But the remnant of the people will not be cut off from the city. Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations, as He fights in the day of battle. Zechariah 14:1-3

The Day of the Lord is associated with the Battle of Armageddon, the destruction of this present heaven and earth, and the return of the Christ, Jesus. That includes the Sixth and Seventh Plagues of Revelations 16:12-21 and the Seventh Trumpet of Revelations 11:15-18.

The Day of the Lord comes with the destruction of Israel. The Lord has gathered the Jewish people [as many as what wanted a nation of their own] to the State of Israel in 1948, as the place where He unleashes His judgment on them, as quoted, “Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Because you have all become dross, therefore behold, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. As men gather silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin into the midst of a furnace, to blow fire on it, to melt it; so I will gather you in My anger and in My fury, and I will leave you there and melt you. Yes, I will gather you and blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and you shall be melted in its midst.” Ezekiel 22:19-21

The Lord gathers all nations to battle against Israel, which means the countries of the United Nations come against Israel. Today, we see how Israel is considered a pariah among the members of the United Nations, even as the global culture protests in cities around the world against the independence of the State of Israel. Also, Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Oman, Russia, China are all full members of the United Nations and vehement enemies of Israel. The Gaza Strip has “observer status” in the United Nations, but is recognized by the majority of members. China and Russia are two of the three most powerful nations in the world. Sometime after the United Nations becomes the undisputed one world government of the beast, the nations will be gathered to the Battle of Armageddon [Revelations 16:11-17]. That is a global battle, but Israel is completely devastated, as described in the post on the Day After from Ezekiel 39.

The remnant are those who survive the destruction of the Battle of Armageddon and recognize Jesus as the Christ and Son of God. The Lord will fight for them as He returns after the global battle as the King of kings. “I will also gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; And I will enter into judgment with them there on account of My people, My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land.” Joel 3:2-3

It must be said that the global government and its global culture serve the beast that governs by giving them what to speak, do, think, and feel. That beast gives breath/life to the image of the beast to speak by speaking and living through people everywhere. By what they are given to say and do, they are groomed to the mark, name, number of the beast. The beast, and those who serve it, despise Israel, God, the Christ Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and Christianity.

“And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the east. And the Mount of Olives will be split in two, from east to west, making a very large valley; Half of the mountain will move toward the north and half of it toward the south.” Zachariah 14:4

The Mount Olives is the place of the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed before His crucifixion on the Cross, Matthew 26:36-46. The Mount of Olives is also the place where Jesus once taught and ascended into Heaven. Also believed to be the place of His resurrection. But guess what?! Today the Mount of Olives is in East Jerusalem, known as Palestinian territory, not part of West Jerusalem of Israeli territory. Even today, the Mount of Olives has been split in two from east to west because of the divide between West and East Jerusalem. We are seeing how very true and precise the word of God is.

The prophecy of the verse above also refers to the very end times, at the Day of the Lord, when the earth will be literally torn in two from east to west and north to south, as describe din the next verse.

“Then you will flee through My mountain valley, for the mountain valley will reach to Azal. Yes, you will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Thus the Lord my God will come, and all the saints with You.” Zachariah 14:4-5

Israel, and the whole world, will be in total chaos and panic in the Day of the Lord. They will be fleeing to find shelter wherever they can, as people do during the earthquakes of today, which are becoming more frequent and widespread around the globe. “Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, “It is done!” And there were noises and thunderings and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth. ..Then every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. Revelations 16: 17-18, 20 That is the circumstance surrounding the coming of the Christ, Jesus, our lord and Savior. “Then the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple. And there were lightnings, noises, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail.” Revelations 11:19

The Christ, Jesus, says that His coming is immediately after the tribulation, as quoted, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” Matthew 24:29-31

The Day of the Lord ushers in the New Jerusalem.
The glory of God and the Light of the Lamb illuminates the New Jerusalem.
“It will come to pass in that day that there will be no light; The lights will diminish. It will be one day which is known to the Lord—Neither day nor night. But at evening time it will happen that it will be light.” Zechariah 14:6-7

Jesus says this about the Day of His return, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” Matthew 24:29 “Then the fourth angel sounded: And a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night.” Revelations 8:12

In today’s world, we see how easily the light of the sun, stars, and moon could be darkened in various ways. One such way is in the effort to cool the heat of global warming, which is the Fourth Plague of Revelations 16:8-9. Geoengineering is already being used to try to create a “curtain” between the sun and the earth. That would certainly darken the lights of the sky, somewhat like an eclipse of the sun. By the time of the Day of the Lord, the need to darken the sun will be much more intense than what we are seeing today. Also, in the Day of the Lord, there will be complete destruction of the present heaven and earth.

While this present heaven and earth will pass away, the Lord creates a new heaven and earth. That happens at the evening time of the passing of this world but at the dawn of His new creation. At that time, in the evening of this world, there will be light, the Light of the Lord, in the New Jerusalem, “The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.” Revelation 21:23-24 The New Jerusalem is a wonderful city that doesn’t follow the natural order. There is always light, but that light is not the sun, moon, nor stars. The light is the light of the Lord 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.

The Water of Life flows freely in the New Jerusalem.
And in that day it will be that living waters will flow from Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea and half of them toward the western sea; In both summer and winter it will occur.” Zechariah 14:8

The waters of Life do not freeze over in the winter and neither is their drought in the summer.

The Holy Spirit is describing the eternal waters of life within the New Jerusalem, as quoted, “And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there will be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants will serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.” Revelations 22:1-5

“And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes will inherit all things, and I will be his God and he will be My son.” Revelation 21:6-7

There is only One God who goes by the name of Jesus and He rules over the New Jerusalem.
And the Lord will be King over all the earth. In that day it will be—“The Lord is one,” And His name one.” Zechariah 14:9

“The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever!” Revelations 11:15 The Christ, Jesus, returns as the King of kings and Lord of lords, as quoted, “Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” Revelations 19:15-16

There is only one God and He is revealed to us through the name of His Son Jesus Christ. Anyone in this world who calls on His name will be saved and inherit eternal life in the eternal New Jerusalem, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

Believers will live eternally in the newly constructed New Jerusalem.
“All the land will be turned into a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem. Jerusalem will be raised up and inhabited in her place from Benjamin’s Gate to the place of the First Gate and the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king’s winepresses. The people will dwell in it; And no longer will there be utter destruction, but Jerusalem will be safely inhabited.” Zechariah 14:10-11

All the land of this earth will be turned to desolation, beginning from the very first events of the First Trumpet to the very last event of the Seventh Plague and Seventh Trumpet. Global warming is already here and is the Fourth Plague of Revelations 16:8-9, and it is already wreaking havoc on the planet in these early end times. The events of the Seven Trumpets are listed in Revelations 8, 9, and 11. The events of the Seven Plagues are listed in Revelations 16.

After the desolation of this earth, Jerusalem will rise up. That refers to the New Jerusalem of the new heaven and earth, which will be inhabited by all Believers, we who live for God through His Son Jesus Christ. The eternal New Jerusalem is a place of safety, peace, life, Salvation, and Light. The New Jerusalem is described in Revelations chapters 21 and 22. “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Revelations 21:4

The Day of the Lord plagues His enemies with nuclear fallout type of effects.

Flesh, eyes, and tongue of people dissolves while still alive.
And this will be the plague with which the Lord will strike all the people who fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will dissolve while they stand on their feet, their eyes will dissolve in their sockets, and their tongues will dissolve in their mouths.” Zechariah 14:12

Sometime in 1945 the nuclear bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. At that time, the world witnessed the devastating effects of nuclear fallout on the human body. That was seventy-eight years ago, almost a century ago. Since that time, the world powers have developed bioweapons more fearful than what we could ever imagine. Chemical weapons could be dropped from a bomb or perhaps unleashed onto the world from a bio-lab.

Bioweapons are extremely destructive to the human body, and towards the very end of the tribulation, when this world has fallen totally into destruction, that type of plague is unleashed. As a judgment of God, through the hands of a spiritually wicked world, it affects the enemies of God and His Son Jesus Christ, the same enemies who come against Israel and Christianity. They will be alive for a time as they witness their flesh, eyes, and tongue dissolve.

“Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her.” Revelation 18:4-6

Panic ensues and violence breaks out.
It will come to pass in that day That a great panic from the Lord will be among them. Everyone will seize the hand of his neighbor, and raise his hand against his neighbor’s hand;” Zechariah 14:13

Bioweapons definitely have an effect on the nervous system. There is no doubt that just seeing self, or another person, dissolve would cause a lot of panic. It will be such a harrowing time that just touching another person will spark rage and violence. Nobody would want to risk being infected with a flesh-eating bioweapon, or something o f that sort.

And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.” Matthew 24:10

Also, in that day, lawlessness will abound in every city around the world because the Holy Spirit is rejected, and He is the one who restrains lawlessness. People will be hostile towards one another, violently so, as our Lord Jesus says, “Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.” Matthew 10:21-22

For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.” 2 Thessalonians 2:5-8 Click here for a post on the “lawless one”.

Infighting within Israel ensues, and the United Nations gathers all wealth to themselves.
“Judah also will fight at Jerusalem. And the wealth of all the surrounding nations will be gathered together: Gold, silver, and apparel in great abundance.” Zechariah 14:14

Towards the Day of the Lord, Israel will be fighting among themselves. That is also a day when the nations of the world, the government of the beast, will have gathered the wealth of all nations, all of the world resources as their own. That is the goal of the United Nations, to establish a global economy to be the world’s provider of all things, while being established as the undisputed one world government. That is what the “Sustainable Development Goals” are all about. We already see the world developing exactly like that, Israel fighting and the United Nations developing a global economy.

Towards the day of the Lord, the global economy collapses and people will be fighting for every sort of worldly resources available just to stay alive. The collapse of the global economy is described in Revelations 18. “For before these days there were no wages for man nor any hire for beast; There was no peace from the enemy for whoever went out or came in; For I set all men, everyone, against his neighbor.” Zechariah 8:10

The Christ, Jesus says to us, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21

Animals are affected by the nuclear fallout type stuff the same as people.
Such also will be the plague on the horse and the mule, on the camel and the donkey, and on all the cattle that will be in those camps. So swill this plague be.” Zechariah 14:15

The plague spoken about is quoted here, “Their flesh will dissolve while they stand on their feet, their eyes will dissolve in their sockets, and their tongues will dissolve in their mouths.” Zechariah 14:12

The Day of the Lord brings eternal life and judgment.

“And it will come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.” Zechariah 14:16

Many around the world comes against Israel, God, and Jesus Christ, but their is repentance. “For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13

Of all the nations of the world, there will remain a remnant, a faithful few who repents and holds to their faith in Jesus Christ. We will go up from year to year, for an eternity, to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, in the eternal New Jerusalem. We will keep the the Feast of Tabernacles as we sit at the marriage supper of the Lord, “Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!” Revelations 19:9 “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” Revelations 3:20

“…the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23b

While many from the global nations will come from east and west to sit with the Christ in the New Jerusalem, the “sons of the kingdom”, Israel, will be cast out, as quoted, “And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 8:11-12

“And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, on them there will be no rain.” Zechariah 14:17

Those who refuse to come to God through Jesus Christ will not receive the rain of the Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our eternal inheritance, as quoted, “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance…” Ephesians 1:13-14

“For the wages of sin is death…” Romans 6:23a

“If the family of Egypt will not come up and enter in, they will have no rain; they will receive the plague with which the Lord strikes the nations who do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.” Zechariah 14:18-19

Egypt is the nation that held Israel in bondage, slavery, and oppression…not allowing them to serve God. The “family of Egypt” represents the government of the beast. The beast holds people in bondage, slavery, and oppression by assuming power over physiology and giving people what they are to speak, do, think, and feel. The beast opposes any belief in God, acknowledging Jesus as the Christ, and living in the presence of t e Holy Spirit.

The government of the beast will not have the rain of the Holy Spirit, and lawlessness plagues them because the Holy Spirit is the only one who can restrain lawlessness, “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.” 2 Thessalonians 2:6-8

The plague will be upon them as mentioned in this verse, “Their flesh will dissolve while they stand on their feet, their eyes will dissolve in their sockets, and their tongues will dissolve in their mouths.” Zechariah 14:12 That is the plague by which the Lord strikes the nations who do not come to Him through Jesus Christ to make their body the home of the live in the Holy Spirit.

The Day of the Lord is Holiness to the Lord.

“In that day “HOLINESS TO THE LORD” will be engraved on the bells of the horses. ” Zechariah 14:20a

Holiness is the opposite of sin, and because of the Holiness of God, sin is not tolerated. Only through Jesus Christ can we be considered right with God as our sin is forgiven through Him. Anyone can come to Jesus Christ to have our sin blotted out, “He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,” Titus 3:5 We walk with bells of Holiness ringing as the bowl of our soul is cleansed by the Spirit.

The pots in the Lord’s house will be like the bowls before the altar. Yes, every pot in Jerusalem and Judah will be holiness to the Lord of hosts. Everyone who sacrifices will come and take them and cook in them. In that day there will no longer be a Canaanite in the house of the Lord of hosts.” Zechariah 14:20b-21

The pots in the Lord’s house were not considered Holy compared to the bowls before the altar. However, in the Day of the Lord, the pots will be like the bowls of the altar. That symbolizes our born-again experience when as ordinary human beings we came to the altar of the Cross to live for God through Jesus Christ.

Every pot will be Holiness to the Lord refers to the redemption of our body [the pot] on the day we are resurrected from the grave into eternal life. We are sown in corruption but raised in incorruption…in Holiness, as quoted, “So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.” 1 Corinthians 15:42-44

Everyone who sacrifices are we who have given our life to God on the altar of the Cross where our Lord Jesus died to atone for our sin. Every one who sacrifices our life to live in the presence of the Holy Spirit are like cooking from the bowls before the altar. In other words, we feed on the Holiness of the Lord as we dedicate our body as the temple of the Holy Spirit.

In that day, no Canaanite will be in the house of the Lord. A Canaanite was a person who opposed God and the Israelites. The Canaanites represent every atheist who opposes God, scoffs at the need for the the Christ, Jesus, and mocks the presence of the Holy Spirit. There is no place in the house of the Lord for them, no place in the eternal New Jerusalem for them to be, “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Outside of the eternal New Jerusalem is eternal hell, “But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.” Revelations 22:15 Idolaters are those who choose to serve the beast that gives them what to speak, do, think, and feel.

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25
, 3:1
