“Intoxication” while removing justice from the righteous.

“Woe to men mighty at drinking wine, woe to men valiant for mixing intoxicating drink…” Isaiah 5:22

Isaiah was speaking about the men of the Israelites who were known to be strong drinkers, more than any other. Isaiah was also speaking to those who were very knowledgeable on how to mix intoxicating drink. They were able to mix the most intoxicating drinks, better than anyone else. This would be like a bartender of today mixing drinks beyond what other bartenders of the city could do. The men in that bar would be able to drink more than the other patrons and would do so till closing time. Isaiah said “Woe!” to them because they tossed aside serving God to make intoxication the center of their life.

The Holy Spirit also refers to “intoxicating drink” as being filled in the spirit and soul with stuff that leads away from God, Jesus Christ, and that grieves the Holy Spirit. Those mighty at drinking and mixing “intoxicating drink” are living by the beast that intoxicates them with what to speak, do, think, and feel. The global culture are drunk in their denial of the Living God, in their rejection of Jesus Christ who forgives unbelief, and in their opposition to the Holy Spirit [who restrains lawlessness and convicts of sin]. In their drunkenness, they persecute the way of Jesus Christ.

“I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.” Revelations 17:6 Click here for a post on Revelations 17.

“Who justify the wicked for a bribe, and take away justice from the righteous man!” Isaiah 5:23

To take away justice from the righteous man is to impose consequences on people for believing in God, living for Jesus Christ, and embracing the Holy Spirit. That is what “intoxicating drink” leads today’s culture to do. Those who live for the beast that intoxicates them in their words, feelings, actions, and thoughts are justified by those who govern over the culture of the beast.

For the wicked to be justified and the righteous to be condemned gives rise to the nations being filled with demons, impure spirits, and detestable animals, “She has become a dwelling for demons and a haunt for every impure spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal. For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries.” Revelations 18:2-3 Click here for a post on Revelations 18.

Our Lord Jesus makes us aware that we will be brought to those in authority simply for our born-again testimony, “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues. You will be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.” Matthew 10:16-20

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
