“Yet now, brethren, I know that you did it in ignorance, as did also your rulers. But those things which God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled.” Acts 3:17-18
The Jewish people and their rulers, who delivered Christ Jesus to be crucified did it in ignorance. The ignorance being rooted in their zeal to uphold the laws of Judaism and refusal to believe that Jesus could be God in the flesh and their Christ. Even so, the prophecies of the Scriptures were fulfilled, such as, “Declare this in the house of Jacob and proclaim it in Judah, saying, ‘Hear this now, O foolish people, without understanding, who have eyes and see not, and who have ears and hear not: Do you not fear Me?’ says the Lord.” Jeremiah 5:20-22 And concerning the suffering of Jesus Christ, Isaiah 53.
Today’s culture, which is global, is ignorant in their pursuit of crucifying and driving the Gospel of Jesus Christ into extinction. The governing authorities and the community culture are unaware that they are the fulfillment of prophecy of the culture of the beast. They are the fulfillment of those who serve the beast that gives them what to speak, do, think, and feel. God has made us to be His temple, the temple of the Holy Spirit, but they serve the one “…who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 The “he” in that verse is the “man of sin”. Click here for a post on the “man of sin”. That is the one that gives life to the image of the beast to speak and live through people as they are groomed to the mark, name, number of the beast by what they are given to say and do. They are the fulfillment of those who contribute to the suffering of Christ, being those who, “…worship the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worship the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” Revelations 13:4
“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.” Acts 3:19-21
We must repent of our unbelief of God by the forgiveness offered to us through Jesus Christ. Our sin will be blotted out, put in remission, so that the refreshing of the Holy Spirit comes in the presence of God. Jesus Christ comes to us as our Lord and Savior who today sits at the right hand of God in Heaven until He returns to restore all things. He restores us to a resurrected and eternal body and restores a new heaven and earth where the eternal New Jerusalem is. All of this is prophesied about in Zachariah, Ezekiel, Habakkuk, Micah, Revelations, Daniel, and all of the prophets.
“For Moses truly said to the fathers, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you will hear in all things, whatever He says to you. And it will be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet will be utterly destroyed from among the people.’” Acts 3:22-23
Peter once again [as all the Apostles and disciples of Christ do], uses the Old Testament Scriptures to reveal how they refer to Jesus Christ. Moses spoke of Jesus when he said God would raise up a Prophet from among the Jewish people [their “brethren”]. Jesus was from the Tribe of Judah. Today, Jesus calls us His brothers and sisters, “For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren…” Hebrews 2:11 Jesus is the word of God made flesh, and His Gospel we must listen to, whatever He says to us through the Holy Spirit we must do. Jesus said, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” John 6:29 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
“Yes, and all the prophets, from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also foretold these days.” Acts 3:24
All of the prophets, and as many as spoke by the Spirit of God, has foretold of the days of our Lord Jesus Christ.
“You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed all the families of the earth will be blessed.’ To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.” Acts 3:25-26
To this day, the Jewish people are the children of the prophets, they are the fleshly heritage, their lineage, and their roots of existence. Today, all Believers are the children of the prophets because we accept Jesus as the Christ and Son of God, and we communicate the prophecies of the Bible. A few of those prophecies, since 1945, are listed in the post on Habakkuk 2:1-4. The Jewish people are the children to whom the promise was made to their fathers through Abraham, that through their “…seed all the families of the earth will be blessed.” Jesus Christ is the seed of Abraham that has brought Salvation to all the earth, “And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:29
Jesus Christ was sent to the Jewish people first, and His resurrection was evidence of the power of God to give eternal life and to give the born-again experience through the Spirit of life [without the laws of Judaism]. However, because they rejected Him, Salvation has come to whoever believes in Him, “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:11-13
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
