“The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.” Isaiah 2:1

Through the 66 books of Isaiah, by the Spirit of God, Isaiah speaks about the Israelites, the Jewish people of today, prophecies about the coming of the Christ [Jesus], and about Christianity.

“Now it will come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Lord’s house will be established on the top of the mountains, and will be exalted above the hills; And all nations will flow to it.” Isaiah 2:2

How do we know we are in the latter days? Because the Holy Spirit has been poured out for all of humanity, as quoted, “And it will come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh…” Acts 2:17 Which is quoted from the prophecy given through Joel, Joel 2:28-29. In that same passage of Joel, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is in the same era as the end of this world, “And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.” Joel 2:30-31 Joel goes on to prophecy about the first coming of Jesus Christ, who is the giver of the Holy Spirit, and through Him the Holy Spirit is poured out on whoever believes in Him, and whoever calls on the name of Jesus Christ will be saved, “And it will come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the Lord has said, among the remnant whom the Lord calls.” Joel 2:32

How were the last days ushered in by the first coming of Jesus Christ and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit? The first coming of our Lord Jesus offered everyone the opportunity to reconcile to God, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 “…if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins…” Hebrews 10:26 By rejecting the Holy Spirit, sin will not be forgiven, “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.” Matthew 12:31 The Holy Spirit restrains lawlessness, so when He is no longer in the world, lawlessness and the destruction of the world comes, “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed…” 2 Thessalonians 2:7-8 Click here for a post on the “lawless one”.

There is eternal life at the end of of days on this earth, a time when this present heaven and earth will be destroyed. Eternal life is for everyone who believes in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and our eternal home is the New Jerusalem in the new heaven and earth. The New Jerusalem is also known as Mt. Zion, and all the nations will flow into it, “And the nations of those who are saved will walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.” Revelations 21:24

“Many people will come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, and we will walk in His paths.” For out of Zion will go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.” Isaiah 2:3

As we see, the Gospel of Jesus Christ has reached all seven continents around the world. Many people have said, and the few faithful of today are still saying, “Come, let us enter into the New Jerusalem through Jesus Christ who is the Door.” Our Lord Jesus teaches us the way through His word, and He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He is the Light to enable us to walk in His paths. From the Kingdom of God [Zion] comes the word of God through His Son who is the word made flesh.

Isaiah lived with the laws of Moses, and he is letting us know [in the Spirit of God] that the laws of the Old Testament are not the same laws that come from Zion, and that the word of the Lord is not the written laws of Judaism. God’s Son Jesus Christ is the New Testament, and He is the new law that comes through the Spirit, and He is the word of God, “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:2

“He will judge between the nations, and rebuke many people; They will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore.” Isaiah 2:4

The new heaven and earth of the eternal New Jerusalem is a wonderful place, nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore.

Our Lord Jesus is the judge that every single person answers to. Our Lord Jesus says, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and will not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” John 5:24He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:18

As followers of Jesus Christ, we aspire to a meek and gentle spirit of peace and to plow the fields of souls to plant the seed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The sword of an embattled spirit is turned to a plowshare by living for Jesus. The spears of the spirit are turned into pruning hooks to cut away spiritual branches o f the heart and soul that do not yield the fruit of the Spirit.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we have no desire to see war between nations nor to learn about physical warfare, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of  the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
