The people of Israel are like the people of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Isaiah 1:10-11

“Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom; Give ear to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah.” Isaiah 1:10

The Spirit of the Lord speaks of the Israelites as being Sodom and Gomorrah, not literally speaking to the rulers and people of Sodom and Gomorrah. The rulers and people of the Israelites were comparable to the behaviors of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis 19 when those cities were destroyed. The rulers and people of Israel today are like Sodom and Gomorrah. They reject the word of the Lord and Jesus as their Christ. Israel has the most liberal abortion rights laws in the world and they embrace the LGBQT lifestyles. They are warned to hear the word of God, and Jesus is the word made flesh, and sent by God as the Christ who atones for sin.

Sodom [Gomorrah associated with Sodom] was turned into a city of homosexuality for one motive…to corrupt righteousness. The people of Sodom didn’t like being judged by the messengers of God so their intent was to impose homosexual sex upon them. “And [the men of Sodom] called to Lot and said to him, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally….This one came in to stay here, and he keeps acting as a judge…” Genesis 19: 5, 9 That is described in the post on Genesis 19:1-9. Israel is being compared to those who corrupt righteousness to be able to continue in their rebellion against God.

“Sodom” and “Gomorrah” also symbolizes the global government and its global culture. They choose to live for the beast that gives them what to speak, do, think, and feel while seeking to corrupt belief in God, to corrupt faith in Jesus Christ, and to corrupt the presence of the Holy Spirit.

“To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me?” Says the Lord. “I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of fed cattle. I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs or goats.” Isaiah 1:11

Our Lord gives the answer to that question in Hebrews 10:1-4, quoted below. The animal sacrifices were never able to remove sin from the heart and soul of people. If so, they would only have had to do one sacrifice to last forever, but really they had to do animal sacrifices every year. Those sacrifices were a foreshadow of the coming of the Lamb of God [Jesus Christ], who would sacrifice His life to atone for our sin, and never again is another sacrifice necessary.

“For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins. But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.” Hebrews 10:1-4

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
