1 Timothy 6:11-16
“But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:11-12
As followers of Jesus Christ, we are to flee from the love of money, being righteous by our own standards, being obsessed with arguments over words, thriving on conflict, living on evil suspicions, dwelling on conspiracies, being involved in wranglings, detesting the truth, using Godliness as a personal gain, etc. The work of sanctification within us is to weed out those types of attitudes and behaviors to enable us to walk in Holiness.
We are to fight the good fight against spiritual corruption to lift up belief in God, to acknowledge Jesus as the Christ and our Lord and Savior, and to embrace the presence of the Holy Spirit. “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 Today, the warfare is against the beast whose authority is given by Satan. That beast gives people what to speak, do, think, and feel, as it gives life to the image of the beast to speak and live through people everywhere. By what they are given to say and do they are groomed to the mark of the beast.
By upholding our faith in Jesus Christ, we lay hold of eternal life, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 By sharing our born-again experience, we are sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, that is the good confession. Jesus died on the Cross to forgive our sin and that changed our life. Jesus was raised from the dead and through His Spirit we have experienced the resurrection within our spirit. His Spirit living in us is the guarantee of eternal life [Ephesians 1:13-14].
“I urge you in the sight of God who gives life to all things, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate…” 1 Timothy 6:13
Our Lord Jesus witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate, referring to His willingness to be obedient to God even to death. Through Pontius Pilate, Jesus Christ was delivered to be crucified on the Cross, where He atoned for sin as the Lamb of God. The Jewish people demanded that Jesus be crucified in exchange for the freedom of Barabbas, a revolutionary and murderer. They detested the testimony of Jesus about the Kingdom of God and His ability to forgive sin. All of that is described in Luke 18:28-40.
“…that you keep this commandment without spot, blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, which He will manifest in His own time, He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.” 1 Timothy 6:14-16
To be blameless is to keep faith in Jesus Christ. When God sees Jesus in us, He considers us to be righteous. Jesus is returning, and global warming is a sign of His coming which the whole world can see. Global warming is the Fourth Plague of Revelations 16:8-9. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords, far above the beast who governs by earthly means through the thoughts, feelings, words, and behaviors of people everywhere. Our Lord Jesus is the only One who has immortality and can give eternal life. To Him belongs the power, glory, and Kingdom forever.
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
