“O Lord, were You displeased with the rivers, was Your anger against the rivers, was Your wrath against the sea, that You rode on Your horses, Your chariots of salvation?” Habakkuk 3:8
Habakkuk knew that the Lord’s anger was not against the rivers and seas, but against the sin and lawlessness in the world. Our Lord prefers to bring turbulence to the planet in the effort to bring Salvation to the people. This is opposite of today’s world where the global leaders prefer to save the planet while blaming its turbulence on the global population. For example, global leaders say that global warming is manmade, and only people can reverse its course, but the Bible says that global warming is a plague sent by God to urge people to repent of their sin and come to Him through Jesus Christ. As quoted, “Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory.” Revelations 16:8-9 Click here for a post on the Seven Plagues.
Within the events of the Seven Trumpets [Revelations 8,9, and 11], the Lord brings His wrath on the seas [Second Trumpet] and rivers [Third Trumpet]. After sending His wrath upon the planet, God says, “But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk. And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.” Revelation 9:20-21 God wants the people of this world to turn away from the idol worship of the false god that gives them what to think, feel, say, and do. His Holy Spirit, through Jesus Christ, should be within our thoughts, feelings, words, and behaviors.
Our Lord Jesus returns to this earth with a “calvary” riding on “horses and chariots”, not to save this planet but to bring Salvation to those who have faith in Him through Jesus Christ. This present heaven and earth will be destroyed but God creates a new heaven and earth for those whose sin is forgiven. “Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war…And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” Revelations 19:11, 14-16
“The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 T
“Your bow was made quite ready; Oaths were sworn over your arrows. Selah You divided the earth with rivers. The mountains saw You and trembled; The overflowing of the water passed by. The deep uttered its voice, and lifted its hands on high. The sun and moon stood still in their habitation; At the light of Your arrows they went, at the shining of Your glittering spear.” Habakkuk 3:9-11
These verses praise God for His power over “mother nature”. Particularly the power to destroy this planet by the force of “mother nature”. Particularly referring to an enormous flood as the overflowing waters pass by and the deep waters were lifted up high. When the floods came in the day of Noah, it was due to sin and lawlessness, as described in Genesis 6. In those days, “Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually…And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.” Genesis 6:5, 13
Also, the sun and moon stood still as described in the post on Joshuah 10:12-15, which resulted in God giving His people the victory over the hostility and death of a Godless people. Today, we know that when the turning and rotation of the earth ends, this world will be no more. The mountains will literally tremble and be no more, as described in the post on Joshuah 10:12-15.
Our Lord Jesus demonstrated God’s power over “mother nature” when He rebuked the storms and calm was restored, Mark 4:35-40. At the light of God’s arrows and the shining of His glittering spear, “mother nature” goes and obeys.
“Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, “It is done!” And there were noises and thunderings and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth. Now the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great Babylon was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath. Then every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And great hail from heaven fell upon men, each hailstone about the weight of a talent. Men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, since that plague was exceedingly great.” Revelation 16:17-21
“You marched through the land in indignation; You threshed the nations in anger. You went forth for the salvation of Your people, for salvation with Your Anointed. You struck the head from the house of the wicked, by laying bare from foundation to neck. Selah” Habakkuk 3:12-13
When the population of this world ignores God’s warnings, which the world sees through global warming, Revelations 16:8-9 Click here for a post on the Seven Plagues, then God’s indignation is lit. Today’s culture, which is global, refuses to believe God, scoffs at the need for the forgiveness of sin through Jesus Christ, and oppresses the presence of the Holy Spirit. They choose to serve the entity that gives them what to think, feel, do, and say to give life to the image of the beast to speak and live through them. They are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they are given to say and do.
Today’s global government and its global culture will be thoroughly threshed as described in the events of the Seven Trumpets in Revelations 8, 9, 11 and the events of the Seven Plagues in Revelations 16. Also, Revelations 18 describes the collapse of the global government.
While this present heaven and earth are being destroyed, our Lord Jesus Christ is coming for the Salvation of His people. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 3:16-17
The Lord is going to strike the head of the house of the wicked, the house of the wicked being today’s culture, which is global. The power center of the beast is the head of the global government and its global culture. The head is the atheistic entity that governs through what it gives people to think, feel, say, and do. The head is struck down as described in the Fifth Plague of Revelation 16:10-11. This present world will be laid bare from foundation to neck. As a result of the head being struck and left powerless, the Battle of Armageddon arises in the Sixth Plague of Revelations 16:12-16. This present earth is totally ripped to pieces in the Seventh Plague of Revelations 16:17-21.
Global warming is the Fourth Plague of Revelation 16:8-9 and is instrumental in bringing the destruction of the power center of the beast. The more powerful the United Nations become as the one world government the hotter and more intense the effect of global warming becomes.
“For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they will become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me.” Zachariah 2:8-9
“You thrust through with his own arrows the head of his villages. They came out like a whirlwind to scatter me; Their rejoicing was like feasting on the poor in secret. You walked through the sea with Your horses, through the heap of great waters.” Habakkuk 3:14-15
Our Lord thrust through the governing authorities of today’s culture in cities, states, and nations around the world. They are destroyed with their own arrows. This means the population they once governed turns on them. In the powerlessness of the world government [after the “head” being struck], the global population begins to revolt, rebel, riot, and lawlessness is everywhere. They are able to revolt against their oppressors because they are free from the entity controlling their thoughts, feelings, actions, and words.
“Because you have plundered many nations, all the remnant of the people will plunder you, because of men’s blood and the violence of the land and the city, and of all who live in it.” Habakkuk 2:8 Click here for a post on Habakkuk 2:5-8
The governing authorities and its global culture came out like a whirlwind against God and Jesus Christ by the empowerment given them by the “head”. The empowerment of uncanny knowledge, heightened intuition, uncanny authority over others, etc. They rejoice in their atheism while being like wolves preying on the sheep of this world, “Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.” John 16:20
Our Lord Jesus walks through the “great sea” of this global culture with His horses, as He returns to bring His vengeance on this world. The Holy Spirit says to us, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.” Revelation 18:4-5
When I heard, my body trembled; My lips quivered at the voice; Rottenness entered my bones; And I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble. When he comes up to the people, He will invade them with His troops.” Habakkuk 3:16
In the presence of the Holiness of God, we immediately realize how deeply rooted that inherited sin is within our nature. In His presence we feel our rottenness, we tremble, we quiver at hearing His voice, and our only hope of Salvation is to rest in our faith in Jesus Christ. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—” Ephesians 2:8 When God sees Jesus in us, He considers us righteous. In His Holiness, He will destroy those who live in their sin as they scoff at the need for Jesus Christ. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
