Holiness of God looks on the evilness on this earth with the burning fire of the Holy Spirit in His eyes.

“Are You not from everlasting, O Lord my God, my Holy One? We will not die. O Lord, You have appointed them for judgment; O Rock, You have marked them for correction.” Habakkuk 1:12

Yes, our Lord God is everlasting, gives eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ, and the presence of the Holy Spirit is the guarantee of our eternal home, “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance…” Ephesians 1:13-14. We will not die as quoted, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 Beyond the grave, there is the judgment, Jesus said, “Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. John 5:28-29

“You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and cannot look on wickedness. Why do You look on those who deal treacherously, and hold Your tongue when the wicked devours a person more righteous than he?” Habakkuk 1:13

The answer to Habakkuk’s question can be seen in how Abraham bargained with God not to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah [for the sake of just a handful of those faithful to Him], as described in Genesis 18:23-33. In the Holiness of God, He sees the wickedness He intends to destroy, sees those who are faithful to Him through Jesus Christ, and sees those who still have hope of receiving Jesus Christ. A severe tribulation is coming to this world, and we see that lawlessness is already in the world, as God warns about the judgment against the world culture, encourages Believers to be faithful, and encourages everyone to come to Him. Jesus is returning. “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord wants to give every single person the opportunity to reconcile to Him through Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit is our guarantee that we are His.

The Holy Spirit restrains lawlessness, but He is taken from this world, and we already see this happening as the churches have abandoned the Gospel of Jesus Christ, government lawmakers no longer integrate the values of the Bible in their policies and laws, the educational system does not allow the teaching of the Bible in classrooms, and Christianity is not welcomed in any sector of society. “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed…” 2 Thessalonians 2:7-8 Click here for a post on the global falling away and the lawless one.

Our Lord Jesus said that the wheat and the tares will be allowed to grow together until the harvest, then the wheat will be gathered into the barn, and the tares will be burned. This is to say that the lawless unbelievers will be living alongside the followers of Jesus Christ until the day that our Lord Jesus returns. In that day, we will inherit the reward of eternal life, but the rebellious unbelievers will be cast to eternal hell. The parable of the wheat and tares is described in Matthew 13:24-30

The book of Revelations is about the judgment of God coming to this world through the events of the Seven Trumpets of chapter 8, 9, and 11 and the Seven Plagues of Revelations 16. In Revelations, God is described as having eyes like flames of fire, meaning eyes of Holiness and judgment, with feet of fine brass meaning His immovable judgment against sin, and with hair as white as wool, which symbolizes the last days on this earth when lawlessness abounds. This is found in Revelation 1:12-20.

“For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they will become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me.” Zachariah 2:8-9

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
