“The burden which the prophet Habakkuk saw. O Lord, how long will I cry, and You will not hear? Even cry out to You, “Violence!” and You will not save.” Habakkuk 1:1-2
There is another verse in the Bible that asks the same question as Habakkuk and provides an answer as well. Those who had already died violently for serving God through Jesus Christ asked God how long it would be before He took vengeance on those who put them to death. The Lord answered that other Christians would be put to death on this earth, like they were, and His retribution would come only after all of that tribulation was completed. “When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who live on the earth?” Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.” Revelations 6:9-11 Click here for a post on the Seven Seals.
“Why do You show me iniquity, and cause me to see trouble? For plundering and violence are before me; There is strife, and contention arises.” Habakkuk 1:3
The Holy Spirit answers that question in this verse, “Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying, “Let us break their bonds in pieces and cast away their cords from us.” Psalms 2:1-3 Click here for Psalms 2.“It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation.” Revelations 13:7 The “him” in this verse is the beast of the image and mark of the beast. The global population serves the entity that replaces the conscience, spirit, and oppresses the presence of the Holy Spirit to give people what to think, feel, say, and do. This entity gives life to the image of the beast to speak and live through people everywhere as they are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they are given to say and do.
Whoever wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
The Apostle James, through the Holy Spirit, shares more light on Habakkuk’s question, “Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war…. Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. James 4:1-2, 4
“Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:11-12 “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18
“Therefore the law is powerless, and justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous; Therefore perverse judgment proceeds.” Habakkuk 1:4
When Habakkuk says, “Therefore the law is powerless, and justice never goes forth.” he is talking about how the Ten Commandments, and the entire word of God, was being ignored. This describes a time of lawlessness and a day when we who serve God through Jesus Christ [in the presence of the Holy Spirit] are fed hardship and tumult. Many fall away from the Gospel of Christ during this time. These are the days of perverse judgment. “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” Isaiah 5:20
The days of lawlessness arrive when there is a global falling away from living for God through Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is absent from the world, and He is the one who restrains lawlessness, “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.” 2 Thessalonians 2:7-8 Click here for a post on the global falling away and the “lawless one”.
“Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls—Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.” Habakkuk 3:17-18
In Psalms 73, the Holy Spirit sums these days up, Click here for Psalms 73
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
