“Ruth the Moabitess said, “He also said to me, ‘You shall stay close by my young men until they have finished all my harvest.’” Ruth 2:21
Ruth is explaining to her mother-in law, Naomi, what Boaz said to her after he gave Ruth a meal, all the leftovers [enough to share with Naomi], and gave her permission to glean from the harvested sheaves of grain [Ruth 2:18-20]. Ruth came from the land of Moab, whose people served the false god of Chemosh, and now she is living in the Bethlehem, Judah, with Naomi. After Boaz gave Ruth a plentiful provision, he said to her “‘You shall stay close by my young men until they have finished all my harvest.’”
As born-again Christians, we are the Gentile Moabites who moved into the land of the Kingdom of God. While there, our Lord Jesus has given us a plentiful supply of His Spirit, and in return the Holy Spirit explains what is expected of us, “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8
Jesus Christ wants us to remain among His family. We remain with the family of God, through the Holy Spirit, until His return [after the harvest is finished]. In fact, the provision of the Holy Spirit is the guarantee of our inheritance in the eternal New Jerusalem, “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.” Ephesians 1:13-14 We are the “purchased possession” [purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ] and our redemption comes upon our entry into the eternal New Jerusalem.
“And Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, “It is good, my daughter, that you go out with his young women, and that people do not meet you in any other field.” So she stayed close by the young women of Boaz, to glean until the end of barley harvest and wheat harvest; and she dwelt with her mother-in-law.” Ruth 2:22-23
Naomi was from the Jewish culture who served the God and father of Jesus Christ, but Ruth was originally from Moab, a country whose natives served the false god, Chemosh. Even so, Ruth left Moab to serve the God of Naomi in Bethlehem, Judah. Naomi even said to Ruth, “It is good, my daughter, that you go out with [Boaz’s] young women, and that people do not meet you in any other field.” As Christians, that is what we say to anyone who desires to set themselves apart from the ways of this atheistic world to serve God through Jesus Christ. It is good for anyone to stay in the family of Jesus Christ and not to wander off. “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.” Matthew 7:13
Our born-again experience is the Gospel of Christ written on our heart, and we are a living testimony that we can change how we view and respond to this world as we focus on a better place in the New Jerusalem, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2 Our Lord Jesus wants us to glean from His word until His return, which is at the end of the harvest [the harvest being bringing people into the Kingdom of God]. Like Ruth who stayed with Naomi, her mother-in-law, we too must remain in the Holy Spirit as the children of God.
In today’s world, we have to rely on God’s grace and mercy like never before. That’s because we are living during a time when there is an entity that has power to give us our thoughts, feelings, words, and behaviors. This is an entity that despises any feelings of thoughts that give place to God and Jesus Christ above its presence within our physiology. This entity enlivens the image of the beast to live and speak through us as people are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they are given to say and do. Revelation chapter 12 describes the extinction of Christian births, and our Lord Jesus says this, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” John 9:4-5
The verse below cannot be emphasized enough,
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
