Ruth told by Naomi to stay in the land of her deceased husband in Moab, while Naomi returned to Judah.

Ruth 1:6-13

“Then she arose with her daughters-in-law that she might return from the country of Moab, for she had heard in the country of Moab that the Lord had visited His people by giving them bread.” Ruth 1:6

After living in Moab for ten years, among people who served the god of Chemosh and not the God of Israel, Naomi heard that the famine in her native land was over. Naomi would now be able to return to Bethlehem, Judah to plenty of food and water. When our Lord Jesus Christ came 2000 years ago, he ended the famine caused by spiritual corruption and restored the food and water to feed the soul. “And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” John 6:35

“Therefore she went out from the place where she was, and her two daughters-in-law with her; and they went on the way to return to the land of Judah.” Ruth 1:7

While in Moab, all the men died, such as Naomi’s husband, and her two sons. This left the women alone, the women being Naomi and her two daughters-in-law, Ruth and Oprah. Today, we live in a global culture where men are no longer the head of the household under Jesus Christ. The goal of the United Nations is to establish women in places of authority, power, and influence. The belief is that women are more peaceful by natural instincts than males who are aggressive by instincts. The global government believes that the leadership of women are the key to bringing salvation, peace, and security to the world, which is to worship the human creature instead of serving the Creator, God. “…who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.” Romans 1:25

“And Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, “Go, return each to her mother’s house. The Lord deal kindly with you, as you have dealt with the dead and with me. The Lord grant that you may find rest, each in the house of her husband.” So she kissed them, and they lifted up their voices and wept.” Ruth 1:8-9

Naomi, a native of Bethlehem, Judah, and a faithful follower of the God of Jesus Christ, decided it would be best for her to return to Bethlehem alone, without her daughters-in-law, who were Moabites accustomed to serving the god of Chemosh. Our Lord Jesus Christ also desires to separate those who want to follow Him from those whose heart is somewhere else, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” Matthew 6:21-23

While Naomi requested that her two daughters-in-law [Ruth and Oprah] return to Moab, she also wanted them to be treated kindly by the Lord, the same as what Ruth and Oprah dealt with their dead father-in-law and their dead husbands. Naomi wanted them to find rest in the house of their husband, and their husband were of the house of Bethlehem, Judah, within their home in Moab. Our Lord Jesus also wanted the Jewish leaders to return to the Scriptures as God intended them to be interpreted, which pointed to Him as being the Christ and Savior of the world. Jesus also wants everyone to return to God through His Gospel. “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:11-13

Naomi kissed Ruth and Oprah in a gesture to send them back to the house of their husbands, and they both lifted up their voices and cried. However, as we see in the verses of the next post, the tears flowing from the heart had very different meanings. The tears of Ruth led to her being in the lineage of Jesus Christ, whereas the tears of Oprah did not, “For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.” 2 Corinthians 2:7:10 Also, this is written in Malachi, “You cover the altar of the Lord with tears, with weeping and crying; So He does not regard the offering anymore, nor receive it with goodwill from your hands.” Malachi 2:13 Click here for a post on Malachi 2:11-13.

Ruth and Oprah insisted that they would follow Naomi to the land of Bethlehem, Judah, as quoted, “And they said to her, “Surely we will return with you to your people.” Ruth 1:10 This is like Peter who insisted he would follow Jesus Christ anywhere, “Peter said to Him, “Lord, why can I not follow You now? I will lay down my life for Your sake.” John 13:37 And also the scribe who said, “And when Jesus saw great multitudes about Him, He gave a command to depart to the other side. Then a certain scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.” Matthew 8:18-19

Naomi made it known to her daughters-in-law that there were no earthly benefits for them to follow her, “But Naomi said, “Turn back, my daughters; why will you go with me? Are there still sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands? Turn back, my daughters, go—for I am too old to have a husband. If I should say I have hope, if I should have a husband tonight and should also bear sons, would you wait for them till they were grown? Would you restrain yourselves from having husbands?” Ruth 1:11-13a.This is like Jesus saying to Peter, “Jesus answered him, “Will you lay down your life for My sake? Most assuredly, I say to you, the rooster shall not crow till you have denied Me three times.” John 13:38 And also what He said to the scribe, “And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” Matthew 8:20

At the time of Jesus’s ministry on this earth, there were no Christians, no one was serving God through the name of Jesus Christ. There were not yet any Christian births, no children in the womb, and the culture of Judaism was old and dying to the true meaning of the scriptures. The question Jesus would have had to ask is, “…will you wait for the birth of My children and for them to be grown?” …will you restrain yourselves from serving other gods?” As we know, some of His faithful followers answered, “Yes!” And the family of Christ has spread and grown around the world on all seven continents. As revealed in the verses of the next post, Ruth answered, “Yes!” And she is now found in the family tree of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Naomi was grieved for her daughters-in-law that the “hand of the Lord was against her”, as quoted “No, my daughters; for it grieves me very much for your sakes that the hand of the Lord has gone out against me!” Ruth 1:13b. Naomi was referring to the fact that her husband and two sons had died and there would be no way to offer a future to Ruth and Oprah. Our Lord Jesus Christ grieved in knowing that He would be struck and His followers would be scattered, “Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’” Matthew 26:31

In today’s atheistic culture, the extinction of Christian births is here, as described in Revelation 12. During these times of barrenness, we must continue with our faith in God through Jesus Christ, as Jesus said, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” John 9:4-5

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25
