Samson Thirsts.
“Then he became very thirsty; so he cried out to the Lord and said, “You have given this great deliverance by the hand of Your servant; and now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?” Judges 15:18

Samson felt a little bit abandoned by God, leading him to say,”… and now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?” Samson felt this way after God gave him the victory over “1000 men” by the jawbone of a donkey, as described in the post on Judges 15:9-17.

Our Lord Jesus was nailed to the Cross by the uncircumcised [unbelievers]. Our Lord Jesus cried out from the Cross with a loud voice, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” Matthew 27:46 When Jesus Christ became sin in our place to put our sin to death on the Cross with Him, the Holiness of God was not with Him for that moment. However, God’s great deliverance came through Jesus whom God resurrected after three days in the grave, and all of death, sin, and His enemies were defeated. Jesus said, “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also.” John 14:19

From the Cross, just before breathing His last, Jesus said, “I thirst”. His thirst is for the Salvation of souls through the born-again experience coming by the forgiveness of sin. All the prophecy of His coming as the Christ was now accomplished, He made atonement for sin, the purpose of His coming, as quoted, “After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!”…So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. John 19:28, 30 That was the reason of Christ’s sacrifice on the Cross, because of His thirst to bring life to whoever believes in Him, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

God Provides Water.
“So God split the hollow place that is in Lehi, and water came out, and he drank; and his spirit returned, and he revived. Therefore he called its name En Hakkore, which is in Lehi to this day. And he judged Israel twenty years in the days of the Philistines.” Judges 15:19-20

God provided water for Samson by splitting the hollow place that was in Lehi, and Lehi means the “Hill of the Jawbone”, where Samson “slaughtered a thousand men”. Likewise, Jesus Christ was crucified on a hill called Golgotha, the “Place of the Skull” which was a hill near Jerusalem where executions took place. That is the place where Jesus had His victory over “1000 men”, His enemies, death, and sin.

When Christ Jesus died on the Cross, it opened our heart, soul, and mind to the Holy Spirit, who makes our heart flow with rivers of living water, “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” John 7:38

When Jesus atoned for our sin by His death on the Cross, God caused the curtain of the temple to split, which symbolizes removing the barrier separating us from Him, “And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. Then, behold, the veil of the temple was split in two from top to bottom…” Matthew 27:50-51 The hollow place of our soul, the place empty of the Holy Spirit, can now be filled with fountains of living water. This is the place of “En Hakkore”, meaning the “Spring of the Caller”, because whoever calls on the name of Jesus will be saved, and a fountain of the Water of Life will flow from within.

After the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit was poured out freely to all the world as quoted, “While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.” Acts 10:44-45

At the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, we can say this is a time when Christ was revived and His Spirit returned, and He was glorified with a name above all names on earth and in Heaven, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11

The Gospel of Christ had strong roots in this world for about “20 years” which is the time beginning with the original Twelve Apostles to about 1945. Around 1945 [At the end of World War 2] is when the United Nations was established and brought the global government of the beast with it. This is described in Daniel 8:1-14. Today, and I’m talking about in America as well, the churches have abandoned the Gospel of Christ, government lawmakers no longer integrate the values of the Bible in laws and policies, the educational system does not allow the teaching of the Bible in classrooms, and no sector of society welcomes the spread of Christianity.

Samson goes into a harlot/prostitute.
“Now Samson went to Gaza and saw a harlot there, and went in to her.” Judges 16:1

After Samson was revived by drinking water and his spirit returned, he came across a harlot/prostitute and had sexual relations with her. This is the same as our Lord Jesus Christ who married us Gentile/non-Jewish people to His Spirit and made us part of the family of God. In the eyes of the Jewish culture, Jesus was committing “harlotry” and blasphemy by bringing the grace, mercy, and love of God to whoever believed in Him. “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:11-13

Samson’s death is plotted.
“When the Gazites were told, “Samson has come here!” they surrounded the place and lay in wait for him all night at the gate of the city. They were quiet all night, saying, “In the morning, when it is daylight, we will kill him.” Judges 16:2

To “lie in wait” to kill someone is to plot and conspire their death. The Gentile Philistines wanted Samson dead because he was burning down their standing grain, wheat stacks, vineyards, olive groves, and killing off their people. The Gazites [people of Gaza] were with them. The Pharisees wanted Jesus dead because He was collapsing the Jewish culture by burning them down with the Holy Spirit. By the Holy Spirit, He burnt their standing grain by harvesting Christians and leaving little standing grain for the harvest of Judaism. He burnt their wheat stacks by drawing away people from the Jewish synagogues to live for God by the Spirit. He burnt their vineyards by destroying the growth of Judaism. He burnt down their olive groves by making Judaism unproductive. By the Holy Spirit, He was killing off those living by the laws of Judaism to give them a life in the grace and mercy of the Spirit.

The Pharisees accused Christ of blasphemy for forgiving people of their sin and bringing God to non-Jewish people. The scribes and Pharisees waited at the “gates” for Christ, referring to the gates of the laws of Judaism, from where they judged everything that Jesus did, as quoted, “And some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, “Why does this Man speak blasphemies like this? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” Mark 2:6-7 The chief priests and Pharisees didn’t like that everyone was following Christ Jesus and leaving them, they wanted Him dead, “Then the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered a council and said, “What shall we do? For this Man works many signs. If we let Him alone like this, everyone will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take away both our place and nation….Then, from that day on, they plotted to put Him to death. John 11:47-48, 53

Samson moves the gate of the city.
“And Samson lay low till midnight; then he arose at midnight, took hold of the doors of the gate of the city and the two gateposts, pulled them up, bar and all, put them on his shoulders, and carried them to the top of the hill that faces Hebron.” Judges 16:3

While the assassins were waiting for Samson at the city gate, Samson snuck in at midnight and moved the gate, gateposts, and the whole thing. Later, when the assassins woke-up and looked for the gate of the city, it was gone! What a surprise that would be! Waiting for Samson at the gate then realizing that the gate is gone!

Samson moved the gate of the city, the two gateposts, and the whole thing to the top of the hill facing Hebron. Hebron is associated with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob [Israel], and David. Our Lord Jesus Christ also moved the gate, gateposts, and the whole thing that allows entry into the presence of God. He moved the gates away from the laws of Judaism to a place within our heart, soul, and mind. We now enter into a relationship with God by faith in Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit, not through laws, rituals, routines, etc.

Our Lord Jesus moved the gate and gateposts so that they face and focus on Abraham, David, etc. “And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:29 The Christ, Jesus, is from the Tribe of Judah and from the lineage of king David [of the Tribe of Judah]. David even calls Christ his Lord, “While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, saying, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose Son is He?” They said to Him, “The Son of David.” He said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool”’? Matthew 22:41-44

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
