Words seasoned with grace and salt are to dry up the inflammable wet and soggy mire of human sentiments.

“Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” Colossians 4:5-6

The grace of God is explained in this way, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 For our speech to always be with grace is to be tolerant, kind, and peaceful towards those we know do not believe in God, they scoff at Jesus Christ, and they oppose the presence of the Holy Spirit. How much more this grace should be shown to the members of the family of Christ.

We should make the most of our time, make the most of every opportunity to let our born-again experience speak with or without words, that is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our speech should be seasoned with salt. Salt does not just act as a preserver, and as Christians we do more than just preserve the sanctity of life. Salt also dries up water, and in today’s atheistic culture, the water has become mire, dirty, and polluted. We want our speech to be seasoned with salt to dry up the mire so that we can have victory in the wet and soggy mire of human sentiments, as described in Zachariah 10:5a. The victory over polluted water of human sentimentality is also described in Colossians 2:4-10

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” Matthew 5:13

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25
, 3:1
