Obadiah 1:10-14
There is only one chapter in Obadiah.

“For violence against your brother Jacob, shame shall cover you, and you shall be cut off forever. In the day that you stood on the other side—in the day that strangers carried captive his forces, when foreigners entered his gates and cast lots for Jerusalem—even you were as one of them.” Obadiah 1:10-11
Jacob [whose name was changed to Israel in Genesis 32:28] and Esau were brothers that didn’t get along at all [that is described from Genesis 25:29 through Genesis 33]. At their reconciliation, Jacob went his way and Esau went his, as described in Genesis 33:16-17 “So Esau returned that day on his way to Seir. And Jacob journeyed to Succoth…” Today, we see how much violence is being done against Israel by their Middle East “brothers”. They are surrounded on every side by hostilities. The Jewish people were never welcomed to the Middle East territory from day one of their gathering to the State of Israel in 1948. Israel has been in 17 wars since 1948. Click for a list of those wars and scroll close to the bottom of the page.
God promises to cut off the Islamic countries that surround Israel, which almost the whole Middle East practices the religion of Islam except Israel. That is described in the posts on Obadiah 1:1-4 and Obadiah 1:5-9. As those posts describe, the enemies of Israel in the Middle East will be cut off while on this earth and will be cut off forever in Hell. They are cut off for rejecting the will of God which includes failing to accept Jesus as the Christ and Son of God. Shame covers the Islamic countries for what they are doing to their genetic brothers, the Jewish people.
The Middle East countries stand on the other side of Israel, meaning they serve the religion of Islam and oppose everything that Israel represents. Israel claims to serve the God of Jesus Christ, while rejecting Jesus, but their Middle East brothers serve the God of Islam with Mohammad being their savior responsible for the writing of the Quran. Those who live for the Quran care nothing for Israel and want to see their demise and want nothing more for Israel than to be defenseless and its military held captive. They want to be there when Israel is completely taken over by foreigners so that they can inherit Israel’s territory. This relates to the “Two State Solution” which Israel is adamantly against. The Islamic countries share in the same nature as the global government that wants to destroy the independence of Israel in order to be established as the one world government.
“But you should not have gloated over the day of your brother in the day of his captivity; Nor should you have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; Nor should you have spoken proudly in the day of distress. You should not have entered the gate of My people in the day of their calamity. Indeed, you should not have gloated over their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity. You should not have stood at the crossroads to cut off those among them who escaped; Nor should you have delivered up those among them who remained in the day of distress.” Obadiah 1:12-14
The advice that God gives the Middle East brothers of Israel is for all of us to follow. 1) Don’t gloat over the way Israel has become captive to the aggression of the United Nations and the protests and riots against them coming through the global culture. Israel is pretty much an outcast, foreigner, and stranger in this world.2) Do not rejoice in destruction of Israel and their captivity to constant wars and other conflict. 3) Do not boast about their distress. 4) Do not take advantage of the unpopularity of Israel. 5) Do not gloat over their affliction. 5) Do not take advantage of them. 6) Do not be aggressive towards them in telling them they are not wanted and do not belong. 7) Do not betray the Jewish people by turning them over to those who hate them.
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
