“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.” Colossians 1:16-17
Through Jesus Christ, all things were created from the beginning of creation, as stated in Genesis 1:26 which points to the presence of the Trinity, “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…” The “Our” in that verse refers to God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
This is also said here, “He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.” John 1:10 And here, “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” John 1:3 And here, “…yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.” 1 Corinthians 8:6
“And He is the head of the body, the church, Who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.” Colossians 1:18
Jesus Christ is the beginning of all creation, and the beginning and head of the Church. He is the very first one who was raised from the dead, independent of the laws of Judaism and solely based on faith in God and the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Because we follow Him, the presence of the Holy Spirit in us is our guarantee of eternal life in the New Jerusalem, “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance…” Ephesians 1:13-14
During the time that Paul said that Christ is the head of the Church, this was a major crime and blasphemy according to the Jewish culture who lived by the laws of Judaism. The Jewish culture, even today, cannot bring themselves to say that Christ is head over them. This is why God has gathered the Jewish people to the State of Israel in 1948, to unleash His judgment on them, “As men gather silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin into the midst of a furnace, to blow fire on it, to melt it; so I will gather you in My anger and in My fury, and I will leave you there and melt you. Yes, I will gather you and blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and you shall be melted in its midst.” Ezekiel 22:20-21
If the Jewish people would have accepted Jesus Christ as head over them 2000 years ago, the State of Israel would never have existed. That’s because as Christians we do not have a nation on this earth to call our own, our nation is the New Jerusalem in the new heaven and earth.
“For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.” Colossians 1:19-20
In Jesus Christ, all the fullness of the Godhead lives, making Him part of the Trinity along with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. The Trinity functions in harmony with one another as the visible Word made flesh [Jesus Christ] shows us the way to the invisible Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit draws us to Jesus Christ and molds us into His image. In fact, blaspheme against the Holy Spirit is the unforgiveable sin, “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.” Matthew 12:31
We make peace with God by our faith in Jesus Christ as Jesus reconciles us to the Father by the blood He shed on the Cross to forgive us of our sin. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
