“Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?— just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.” Galatians 3:5-9
As seen in Galatians 1:15-24 and Galatians 2, Paul relied on his born-again experience to guide him through his ministry in the Gospel of Christ [After all, our born-again experience is the Gospel of Christ]. Paul knew that the Spirit is supplied through Jesus Christ and not by circumcision, animal sacrifices, nor any other laws. This is why Paul confronted Peter and referred to him [the head of the Church and governing from Jerusalem] as a hypocrite who embraced the powerful leaders of Judaism while turning his back on the unsaved [Gentiles]. After Paul’s conversion, he did not consult with the Church leaders, such as Peter and James, for three years, and then didn’t see Peter for another 14 years. Paul knew it was more important to let the gentiles know about Jesus Christ than consulting with Church leaders [who couldn’t add anything to his born-again experience]. Being born-again is the Gospel message that we share.
Paul was a Pharisee of all Pharisees, who studied under the most powerful Pharisee of that time and was destined for power within the leadership of Judaism [Before being born-again in Jesus Christ]. With all of Paul’s prestigious background, it is he who said that the laws can do nothing to bring about a born-again experience in the Spirit and that only through faith in Jesus Christ can anyone be justified in the eyes of God. Paul used his knowledge of the Old Testament, such as the experience of Abraham, to show how the Old Testament points to our Lord Jesus as the promised Messiah, Christ, and Son of God. Even before circumcision became a law, God considered Abraham righteous for his belief and faith, so Paul says that circumcision didn’t make Abraham righteous, but his faith did. “For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.” Romans 2:28-29
Paul saw Jesus Christ in the Old Testament scriptures, and we should also be able to see Jesus in the whole Bible, from Genesis to Revelation [That is known as the “Scarlet Cord” linking the whole Bible together]. Paul even says the Gospel of Christ was preached to Abraham through the Scriptures when it is written, “And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.“ Galatians 3:8 which is the Spirit of, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 So then, those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham who believed God.
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
