“But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.” Jude 1:5
Jude was writing to those who once knew the Salvation of Jesus Christ but was led astray by wolves in sheep clothing who sat within their congregation, passing themselves off to be ministers of righteousness Jude 1:3-4. Those who fall away from the mercy and grace of God’s Salvation given through Jesus Christ fall back into destructive lifestyles and expose themselves to eternal condemnation beyond the grave. They are like those who were saved from the slavery of Egypt and self-indulgence of Egypt’s physical comforts and pleasures but fell back into slavery to the carnal and worldly flesh. Because of physically indulging in sexual freedom, many died as revealed in 1 Corinthians 10:8 and Numbers 25:1-9, and only a few survived the consequences of abandoning God. Only a few Israelites entered the earthly promised land and only a few faithful to Jesus Christ will enter eternal life in the New Jerusalem.
“And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day…” Jude 1:6
Even the angels who left God are subject to God’s judgment when life on this earth is over. Satan was once referred to as Lucifer, a bright and promising servant of God, but he rebelled against God, seeking to defeat God and to become ruler of heaven and earth [Isaiah 14:12-17]. In the process, Lucifer [now known as Satan or the Devil], took 1/3 of the angels with him as they were cast out of Heaven and thrown to this earth, “So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” Revelation 12:9
“Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” Jude 1:7
The people of Sodom and Gomorrah were notorious for their homosexuality, extreme sexual immorality, and included bestiality [strange flesh indeed!]. The men of these cities would take male saints, those men faithful to God, and force them into homosexual acts. This is written about in Genesis 19:1-29 where the men of Sodom [young and old] were breaking into Lot’s home to rape the male angels staying with him. “Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both old and young, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house. And they called to Lot and said to him, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally.” Genesis 19:4-5
Sexual immorality, homosexuality, and bestiality are crimes against God because those acts quench the Spirit and enflames carnal desires. Basic human instincts of the creation are served instead of serving God the Creator Romans 1:18-32. The entity that has power over physiology focuses on arousing human passions and pleasures in order to motivate people to desire the natural world and to forsake the Holy Spirit. As people choose to live for the flesh and worldly benefits, they begin to live for the entity that replaces the conscience and spirit to give people what to think, feel, say, and do. This entity enlivens the image of the beast to speak and live through people as they are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they are given to say and do.
“Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries. Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” Jude 1:8-9
The wolves in sheep clothing use a lot of smooth words and flatteries to draw people away from the Salvation found in Jesus Christ. Today, they are those who believe the Garden of Eden can be restored here on earth, and they depend on the principles of humanism, environmental policies, sustainability goals etc. to do so. They are dreamers, as reality is seen in global warming, which is the Fourth Plague of Revelation 16:8-9. They argue with anyone who opposes them, they cause divisions and strife, and despise belief in God, scoff at the need for the forgiveness of sin through Jesus Christ, and they oppress the presence of the Holy Spirit. They reject any authority that opposes the entity that gives them what to think, feel, say, and do, and they speak evil of any prominent person who is not part of their agenda. By the Holy Spirit, Jude says not to argue with them.
“Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men. For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.” Titus 3:1-3
“But these speak evil of whatever they do not know; and whatever they know naturally, like brute beasts, in these things they corrupt themselves. Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.” Jude 1:10-11
The wolves in sheep clothing, who are contentious against anyone who opposes them, are just like Cain who murdered his brother Able. Cain murdered Able because God favored Able’s animal sacrifice but rejected Cain’s offering grown from the earth [Genesis 4:1-10]. Today, God rejects the offering of the “green economy” and “environmental correctness” but He accepts the offering of our soul given to Him through Jesus Christ. Today, Christianity is being murdered. The churches have abandoned the Gospel of Christ, government lawmakers no longer implement the values of the Bible in laws and policies, the educational system do not allow the teaching of the Bible in classrooms, and Christianity is not wanted in any sector of society.
Balaam is the one who devised a way to cause the Israelites to intermarry through lust and sexual immorality with the culture that ritualistically defied every one of the Ten Commandments, “And those who died in the plague were twenty-four thousand.” Numbers 25:9 Today, people are being married to the atheistic entity that has power over physiology to give them what to think and feel to influence what they say and do. Masses of people globally in every city are dying by that plague.
The rebellion of Korah is about the people’s leadership rebelling against God’s leadership [Moses and Aaron] and causing many people to die in the process. This is like the church leadership of today leading their congregation against the Gospel of Jesus Christ and into the way of community acceptance. We are supposed to separate ourselves from the agenda of this world to live for God through Jesus Christ in the presence of the Holy Spirit. “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.” Revelation 18:4
The rebellion of Korah reveals the grim consequences of usurping the authority of God and of those whom He has chosen to be leaders of His people. Korah was of the Tribe of Levi, the same as Moses and Aaron, but he led a rebellion against Moses and Aaron. The scriptures are quoted directly below, and the full account is in Numbers 16:1-40.
“Now Korah the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men; and they rose up before Moses with some of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty leaders of the congregation, representatives of the congregation, men of renown. They gathered together against Moses and Aaron…”
“And Korah gathered all the congregation against [Moses and Aaron] at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. Then the glory of the Lord appeared to all the congregation. And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, “Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.”
“But if the Lord creates a new thing, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them, and they go down alive into the pit, then you will understand that these men have rejected the Lord.” Now it came to pass, as he finished speaking all these words, that the ground split apart under them, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the men with Korah, with all their goods. So they and all those with them went down alive into the pit; the earth closed over them, and they perished from among the assembly.”
Numbers 16:1-3, Numbers 16:19-21, Numbers 16:30-33
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
