The writer of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd John is also the writer of the Gospel of John and the book of Revelations.
- We are personal witnesses concerning the Word of Life.
- We are personal witnesses to the life of the Father within us.
- We share our witness in Christ for others to have fellowship with Him.
- The Bible is written to make our joy full in Christ Jesus.
We are personal witnesses concerning the Word of Life. “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life— ” John 1:1
The Word that gives life was from the beginning, and that Word was made flesh through Jesus Christ, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14 The Apostle John, along with the other Apostles of Jesus, witnessed the Word made flesh, heard His voice, saw Him with their eyes, and touched Him with their hands. This pertains to the Word of Life, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Apostles of Jesus had a personal encounter with Him, experiencing Him physically through sight, hearing, and touch, as well as in their spirit, soul, and mind. Similarly, as born-again children of Jesus Christ, we too have a personal experience with the Word of Life. Jesus Christ has enabled us to hear His voice, see His Kingdom, and touch the Holy Spirit. Our spirit has been awakened to receive the Word of Life.
Our Lord Jesus has opened our eyes to see His Kingdom within us, He said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” Luke 17:20-21 We hear the inner voice of God because we are the sheep of the Good Shepherd, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life…” John 10:27-28 Jesus permits us to touch Him, enabling us to experience His healing from within, “And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.” But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour. Matthew 9:20-22
There is an atheistic entity that works from within us with power over physiology that has the ability to influence how people hear the Gospel of Christ, how Jesus Christ is seen, and whether people want to be near enough to touch Him. This atheistic entity wants us to turn a deaf ear, to close our eyes, and to avoid touching the Word of Life. This entity replaces the spirit and conscience to build a wall against the Holy Spirit to enliven the image of the beast to speak and live through people. Today’s culture is groomed to the mark of the beast by what they are given to say and do.
“In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.” Ephesians 1:13-14
We are personal witnesses to the life of the Father within us. “…the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us— ” John 1:2
Life resides in the hands of God the Father and was made known to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. “For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son also to have life in Himself.” John 5:26 The Apostles of Jesus were eyewitnesses to the life-giving authority in Him and proclaims to us that eternal life.
The Apostles witnessed our Lord Jesus resurrecting at least four individuals from the dead. Jesus brought Jairus’ daughter back to life, as recounted in Mark 5:21-24, 35-43; He revived the widow’s son from Nain, detailed in Luke 7:11-15; He resurrected Lazarus, Martha’s brother, narrated in John 11:38-44; and all the Apostles witnessed the risen Jesus Christ, as documented in 1 Corinthians 15:3-8. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26
Those of us who have been born-again through faith in Jesus Christ have become witnesses to His life. Our minds, spirits, and souls have experienced a renewal, leading us from darkness into His marvelous light that gives life. The change that has happened is real, and it is this life-changing experience we desire to share with others. We want others to know that in Christ Jesus, there is life now and everlasting life beyond the grave, “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” Romans 8:11 The Holy Spirit in us is the guarantee of our eternal inheritance, “…having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance…” Ephesians 1:13-14
A man once possessed by demons experienced the life-changing power of Jesus Christ and was born-again from within. Onlookers witnessed this man, clothed in his right mind, a change made possible by the resurrection of life within his mind, spirit, and soul. This born-again individual is promised eternal life. The account of this man’s deliverance and rebirth is documented in Mark 5:1-20.
We share our witness in Christ for others to have fellowship with Him. “…that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.” John 1:3
The Apostles, who daily was in the company of our Lord Jesus, documented what they saw of His actions and teachings. This is the purpose of the Gospels, written by Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Additionally, Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles, wrote 13 of the 27 books of the New Testament through his epistles, and over half of the chapters of Acts are about Paul’s ministry. The purpose of the books of the Bible is to guide us to God through Jesus Christ, enabling fellowship within the Holy Spirit as members of God’s family. Fellowship within the body of Christ is with the Father and His Son.
Being born-again in the Spirit by the forgiveness of sin through Jesus Christ, what we have witnessed and heard is written upon our hearts. This is the message we desire to share with others—the epistle and Gospel written on our heart. We share our life-changing experience with others so that we may live together in fellowship with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. “You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.” 2 Corinthians 3
“And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.”
John 1:4
“This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” Hebrews 10:16 As prophesied about in Jeremiah 31:33
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16 We are the light of the world only because it is our Lord Jesus who lives within us, who is the Light of the world, “Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
