“This is the offering which you shall offer: you shall give one-sixth of an ephah from a homer of wheat, and one-sixth of an ephah from a homer of barley. The ordinance concerning oil, the bath of oil, is one-tenth of a bath from a kor. A kor is a homer or ten baths, for ten baths are a homer.” Ezekiel 45:13-14
Now that we know the scale is balanced through Jesus Christ, we all have the same amount to offer to God through Him. The offering we are to give is wheat, barley, and oil. Wheat and barley represent our devotion to the Bread of Life, who is Jesus Christ, the Living word. The oil represents the Holy Spirit. In the verse above, we see that the offering of wheat and barley is less than the offering of oil. The offering of oil is more.
In our day-to-day life, we do a lot more activity in living life than what we spend reading the Holy Bible. We read the Bible when we ae able to, either in the mornings, during lunch break, or in the evening before going to bed. Those are times when we are feeding on the Bread of Life. As we go to work, or whatever we do during the day, we are walking with the Holy Spirit. In a sense, we devote a larger part of our day walking in the Holy Spirit than what we do feeding on the Bread of Life. At the same time, the Bread of Life, Jesus Christ, nourishes our spirit and soul so that we can walk in His Spirit.
While we are all to give the same relating to feeding on the Bread of Life and walking in the Holy Spirit, it’s more of the measurement of percentages than it is a set amount. For example, if one person gives $5.00 of the $10.00 that they have, is that more than someone else giving $1.00 of the $2.00 they have? No. In fact, our Lord Jesus says this to us, “And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury, and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites. So He said, “Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.” Luke 21:1-4
We do not need a large portion of faith to be faithful to God through Jesus Christ and to live in the Holy Spirit. There is only one size faith, and that is the size that enables us to believe in our heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and to confess with our mouth that He is Lord. One penny of faith gives us riches and treasures in Heaven.
Think of the criminal on the cross who inherited a place in the eternal New Jerusalem for simply saying what He said to our Lord Jesus, “One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:39-43
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
