“And I will not hide My face from them anymore; for I shall have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,’ says the Lord God.” Ezekiel 39:29
The Spirit of God is Holy, and when He pours out His Holy Spirit, the purpose is to destroy sin. When we receive Jesus Christ, God sees His sinless Son in us and our belief in Him is considered righteousness. God has mercy on us sinners only because He sees Christ Jesus in us. Our Lord Jesus pours out the Holy Spirit into our spirit and soul. In contrast, if Jesus Christ is not seen in us, then all that God sees is a rebellious heart filled with sin. In His Holiness, His Spirit is poured out in fury against sin, and sin results in great tribulation, destruction of the earth and those who live in it. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
In this chapter of Ezekiel, we see what happened in the “day after” the Battle of Armageddon. God did not hide His Holy face from Israel, and He poured out His Holiness on their sin of unbelief, unfaithfulness, and rejection of Jesus Christ. Destruction came to Israel, only a remnant was spared, then destruction came to the world government, its global culture, and its military. God promises to spend, or exhaust, His wrath upon Israel and this whole earth on the Day of the Lord, and He returns as King of kings and Lord of lords. Ezekiel 7 describes the wrath coming against Israel.
God pours out His Holy Spirit as the sanctifier and justifier of all who believe in His Son Jesus Christ, “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 The Holy Spirit in us is our guarantee of the inheritance of eternal life, “In (Jesus) you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.” Ephesians 1:13-14
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
