“Then I answered them, “The word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘Speak to the house of Israel, “Thus says the Lord God: ‘Behold, I will profane My sanctuary, the pride of your strength, the desire of your eyes that which your soul pities; and your sons and daughters whom you left behind shall fall by the sword.” Ezekiel 24:20-21.
The Israelites were wondering why Ezekiel wanted them to see that he was not wearing the customary mourning clothing, had no outward appearance of mourning, and had no tears for the passing of his wife. So Ezekiel spoke the word of the Lord to them, that they would suffer the loss of something loved by the Israelite culture, the loss of something engrained within the soul of the Jewish people. The loss was the destruction of Jerusalem, the temple, and the death of their sons and daughters. As we read in the next verse, the Israelites didn’t shed a tear, felt no guilt, no shame, no mourning, no repentance.
The Israelites were conquered by king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. After experiencing rebellion from the Israelites, Nebuchadnezzar destroyed Jerusalem, the temple/sanctuary, and slaughtered the sons and daughters. Jerusalem, the sanctuary, and the people of their culture were the pride of the Jewish strength and was the desire of their eyes, which they loved in their soul. One would think the Israelites would have been heartbroken and in mourning over the loss of their children and the temple being defiled, but they never mourned, felt no sorrow, and never shed a tear.
The Jewish people of today are living with the defilement of their sanctuary. That’s because the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been discarded from their preaching and teaching, which is the entire New Testament. They only live by the Old Testament. The sons and daughters of the Jewish people are falling by the “sword”, the sword that severs them from Jesus Christ. They are dying to the will of God and dying to the Holy Spirit. The Jewish culture does not mourn, cry, or feel any repentance over the profanity of their sanctuary nor for the deaths of their children.
Only through Christ Jesus can we live in the presence of the Holy Spirit, and our body is the sanctuary of the Spirit. God has set in motion that Jesus Christ brings Holiness to the sanctuary, and without Him the sanctuary is profaned with unbelief. God has made it that the sanctuary is profaned of those who feels no need for the forgiveness of sin through Jesus.
God has created our body to be the sanctuary of the Holy Spirit by believing in Jesus Christ for the remission of sin. When that is not happening, God allows His sanctuary to be profaned, which is part of the judgment He brings against atheism. Today’s culture is living in the profanity of their sanctuary as they welcome the atheistic entity that gives them what to think, feel, do, and say. They do not shed a tear, no mourning, no remorse, no repentance for those dying to God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. The word of God says, “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.” 1 Corinthians 3:16-17
We can assess that God has made us His sanctuary by the Holy Spirit given to us by the forgiveness of sin through Jesus the Christ. The diagnosis is that the sanctuary is profaned by unbelief and prevents being born again as children of Christ Jesus. We plan to live with the pride and strength of believing in Jesus Christ, “But “he who glories, let him glory in the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 10:17 We implement that plan by boasting in our weaknesses and His strength, “And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 We know the plan is successful when Jesus Christ increases and we decrease, “He must increase, but I must decrease. He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth.” John 3:30-31
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
