“Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is in it, and whose scum is not gone from it!” Ezekiel 24:6a.
The Jewish people were gathered to the State of Israel as the pot where the fiery fury of God’s judgment is unleashed on them. “Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Because you have all become dross, therefore behold, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. As men gather silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin into the midst of a furnace, to blow fire on it, to melt it; so I will gather you in My anger and in My fury, and I will leave you there and melt you.” Ezekiel 22:19-20
The State of Israel is referred to as the bloody city because of their constant conflict, wars, and hostility in the region. Click for a list of those wars and scroll close to the bottom of the page. Before the coming of Jesus Christ, the Israelites were referred to as dross and scum in that they turned away from the word of God to live according to the ways of the spiritually corrupt world. Today, the scum is still within the State of Israel in that they have turned away from the will of God for them to receive Jesus Christ as their Savior. Jesus said to the Jewish people 2000 years ago and is still true of them today, “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him.” John 8:44
Every single conflict, war, hostility, difficulty, hardship and everything else coming against Israel today is because of their rejection of Jesus Christ 2000 years ago. If they would have received Jesus, they would be walking with Him as Christians and the Jewish State of Israel would not exist today. Christians do not have a nation on this earth to call our own, our nation is the New Jerusalem in the new heaven and earth. Jesus calls us to a life of peace not war, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
In Isaiah 8:11-15, God warned the Jewish people not to think that belief in Jesus Christ was a conspiracy against the Jewish culture. He came to save not to destroy. They were cautioned not to be afraid of the threats of the Pharisees, who made belief in Jesus a literal crime. They feared. The Jewish people were warned that Jesus Christ would be an offense to them, and they would stumble. They were offended and stumbled. They were told that Israel would be broken because of their rejection of Him. They are broken and are being broken.
Jesus Christ says, “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 10:32-33
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
