“And I will establish My covenant with you. Then you shall know that I am the Lord, that you may remember and be ashamed, and never open your mouth anymore because of your shame, when I provide you an atonement for all you have done,” says the Lord God.’” Ezekiel 16:62-63
The phrase, “And I will establish My covenant with you” refers to establishing the New Covenant through Jesus Christ, making the covenant created through the laws of the Old Testament obsolete, “By calling this covenant “new,” He has made the first one obsolete…” Hebrews 8:13 Jesus Christ said this, “The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it.” Luke 16:16 This is also said in this way, “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things…” Hebrews 1:1-2
The most important part of the New Covenant is the ability to feel shame, guilt, and remorse to be able to come to Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sin, “Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.” 2 Corinthians 7:9-10
Instead of opening our mouth revealing the shame of sin that lies in our heart, through repentance we open our mouth to confess that Jesus Christ is Lord because in our heart we believe that He is risen from the dead, “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:8-10
Every one of us have sin and fall short of the glory of God, and for all that we have done, God still provides atonement for our sin by the sacrifice Jesus Christ made on the altar of the Cross. This is the New Covenant, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 3:16-17
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
