“For thus says the Lord God: “I will deal with you as you have done, who despised the oath by breaking the covenant. Nevertheless I will remember My covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you.” Ezekiel 16:59-60

This verse is talking about two covenants made with the Jewish people, the one in the Old Testament and the other is the eternal covenant through Jesus Christ. God is going to deal with the Jewish people according to what they have done, which is to violate the promise made to God resulting in breaking the Old Testament covenant. For example, the Jewish people do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as having any importance to them. They have tossed aside the entire New Testament which is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They only live by the Old Testament. Even then, they have broken the covenant made with God in the Old Testament book of Exodus and God is dealing with them accordingly. The Old Testament covenant is this,

This is the covenant created by God, “Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.” This is the oath the Israelites made to God. So Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before them all these words which the Lord commanded him. Then all the people answered together and said, “All that the Lord has spoken we will do.” So Moses brought back the words of the people to the Lord.” Exodus 19:5-8

The masses of the Jewish culture have broken the covenant made with God in the Old Testament and they no longer obey the voice of God. Therefore, they are no longer His special treasure, they are no longer a kingdom of priests, and no longer a Holy nation.

Even though the Jewish people have not kept the first covenant of the Old Testament, God still remembers that covenant and has given the Jewish people of today a second chance. The New Covenant no longer has lengthy legal requirements of necessary animal sacrifices to be made, what to eat and not to eat, etc. The new covenant is simply to believe Jesus Christ, who infills with the Holy Spirit and makes us right with God. As Jesus has said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

This is the New Covenant, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:169 Through Jesus Christ, we are God’s royal priesthood, His special people, a Holy nation, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” 1 Peter 2:9-10

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
