Ezekiel 3:20-21

“Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die…” Ezekiel 3:20a.

The Jewish leaders, and the people that followed them, thought of themselves as being righteous. They were the keepers of the word of God and everyone else were unclean Gentiles. However, when they rejected Jesus Christ, they turned from the will of God for their life. Their righteousness became sin. Today, the Jewish people continue to turn from the righteousness found in Jesus Christ. God laid the stumbling block of Jesus Christ in front of them, “…but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness,” 1 Corinthians 1:23

As followers of Jesus Christ, if we turn from God, and leave from living for Jesus Christ, and oppress the presence of the Holy Spirit, we will die spiritually. When we turn from the righteousness we have in Jesus Christ, we commit sin against Him and He becomes a stumbling block to us. He becomes a stumbling block because sin runs into many obstacles in life.

“…because you did not give him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand.” Ezekiel 3:20b.

The righteousness the Jewish people once had before they rejected Jesus Christ will not be remembered. God has invested all of His righteousness in Jesus Christ, and we who live for Him are counted as righteous. “But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe.” Romans 3:21-22 The Jewish leaders have a responsibility to say to the Jewish people that the Torah does not bring righteousness with God. Because they do not point to Jesus Christ as their righteousness, blood is on their hands.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we have a desire to keep fellow Christians on the path of Holiness. Once a follower of Christ turns from His righteousness, all that was done will not be remembered. If we allow spiritual wickedness to live in us, and we cold-heartedly allow our fellow Christians to reject righteousness, we will be held responsible.

While many have turned away from the love of God and His Son Jesus Christ, there is nothing we can do about their decision. However, if we see someone struggling in living for Jesus Christ, we must say a word that might keep the person in the will of God. If we do nothing, it’s like a doctor who turns away from a patient who needs tender, loving, care. The blood of the patient would be on the doctor’s hands.

The righteousness done by a Christian who turns away from God will not be remembered when they start grieving the Holy Spirit. It’s not possible to build a Christian retirement account and expect to live on that while living for the entity giving them what to feel, think, do, and say. This entity enlivens the image of the beast to live and speak through people and they detest God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit by what they say and do. When living by this entity, the past merit of a Christian is no longer remembered. Unfortunately, people in every city around the world conform to the anti-Christian global culture as they are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they say and do.

“Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man that the righteous should not sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning; also you will have delivered your soul.” Ezekiel 3:21

There are Jewish people who have reconciled with God through Jesus Christ. They have exchanged their righteousness of living by the Torah for the righteousness of living for Jeus Christ. “…the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed…even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe.” Any converted Jewish person who turns a fellow Jew to Jesus Christ will deliver his soul.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we want to guide good people into the Good News of Jesus Christ. We want the well-meaning in this world to realize that we must not deny God, must not reject the remission of sin through Jesus, and must not oppress the Holy Spirit. We want to warn the righteous not to sin. The righteousness of human beings is filthy rags compared to the righteousness of God. Guiding a person into the path of Holiness brings spiritual life to that person and also brings deliverance to our soul.

Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.”James 5:19-20 Anyone guiding someone into the love of God to live for Jesus Christ is 100% in the will of God and finds Salvation for the soul.

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
