Eve received the title of the mother of all life.

“And Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.” Genesis 3:20

The first human life came from Eve, who began the proliferation of humankind, thus she is the mother of life. Eve did not have any children in the Garden of Eden, where she and Adam lived without sin. After they disobeyed God’s will and suffered the consequences of sin and death, they had children who inherited the sinful nature. All people who have ever been born into this world have inherited the nature of sin and have fallen short of God’s glory.

Jesus Christ was born from the lineage of Eve so where does that put Him in relation to inherited sin? Jesus Christ was born by the Spirit of God and not by the tainted genetics of sin. Jesus broke the cycle of sin. “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 1:18 Just as Adam’s sin was passed down to all of humanity, we can be reconciled with God through Jesus Christ, who never knew sin. “For if by the one man’s offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.” Romans 5:17

Despite their sinful nature, many descendants of Eve among the Israelites were faithful to God even before the Ten Commandments were given. Abel, Noah, Lot, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses for example. To guide them on their way to the promised land, God eventually gave them the Ten Commandments. The birth of Jesus Christ came through the lineage of those who were faithful to God, and many of those people are mentioned in Hebrews 11. Being faithful to God is equivalent to being faithful to Jesus Christ, “For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.” 1 Corinthians 10:4-5. This refers to when Moses struck the rock and brought forth water for the congregation to drink in Numbers 20:7-13.

Genesis 5 records the descendants of Adam and Eve, and we can track the lineage of Jesus Christ all the way back to Adam, as Luke 3:23-38 records this genealogy. Shem is one of three sons of Noah who repopulated the earth after the flood, but he is the only son of Noah mentioned in the genealogy of our Lord Jesus Christ. Cain and Abel were the first sons of Eve. After Cain killed Abel, Seth was born to them. Seth’s son was Enosh, who had a son named Cainan. Cainan’s son was Mahalalel, who had a son named Jared. Jared’s son was Enoch, who had a son named Methuselah. Methuselah’s son was Lamech, who had a son named Noah. Noah’s three sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, repopulated the world after the flood.

“And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.” 1 Corinthians 15:45

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
