“Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai: “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!” Esther 4:15-16
After Haman issued a decree to exterminate all Jews, Queen Esther decided that she would disclose her Jewish identity to the king, hoping that he would spare her and her people. The greater danger was not revealing that she was Jewish, but approaching the king’s inner court without his invitation. Before she took this risk, she asked all the Jewish people to fast with her for three days. The attitude of her spirit was that if she perished, she perished.
“So Mordecai went his way and did according to all that Esther commanded him.” Esther 4:17
God gave the Ten Commandments to the Jewish people as a guide for living in reverence to Him. The faithful Israelites, such as Mordecai and Esther, showed great devotion to God and their behavior reflected that of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, when He was ready to sacrifice His life on the Cross for the salvation of whoever believed in Him. Esther’s spirit and behavior reflected the prayer of Jesus Christ, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” Matthew 26:39
The global culture of today does not care if we say we are Christians, as long as we do not try to access the inner court. The inner court is the spirit and soul of the human body, which has been claimed as the territory of the entity giving people their thoughts, feelings, words, and actions. Christians seek to enter the inner court in the name of Jesus Christ, to claim the human body as the home of the Holy Spirit. However, the masses of people who live for the anti-Christian culture oppress, resist, manipulate, and destroy the presence of the Holy Spirit in their effort to prevent us from entering the inner court. As we live for the testimony of Jesus Christ, we need the prayers of fellow Christians and we need the spirit and soul that says, “…if I perish, I perish…” and “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
