The sheep market and the pool. “After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.” John 5:1-2
The sheep market is where the Jewish people would buy sheep to make a sacrifice to God to atone for their sin. Jesus Christ was at the feast who is the Lamb of God who atones for sin on the Cross for whoever believes in Him. As our Lord Jesus was walking through the sheep market, He was well aware that He would be the final sacrifice to put an end to the sheep market and all such sacrifices. The crowd in the sheep market was oblivious to the fact that the Lamb of God was walking among them and His gift of the atonement for sin was free, and He was not for sale. By the sheep market was a pool where those with physical handicaps were hoping to be healed. Today, Jesus Christ is the hope of everyone in this world, and He is the Water of Life who forms a pool of spiritual and eternal healing for all who receive Him.
People want to be freed of their difficulties in this life. “In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.” John 5:3
On the five porches of the pool were many needy people. While people were buying and sacrificing sheep to atone for sin, their sacrifices did nothing to heal the needs of the human spirit. Jesus Christ came to show us that there is nothing in this world capable of healing our spirit and soul except the remission of sin which He made possible as the sacrificial Lamb of God. Jesus brought the remission of animal sacrifices by putting sin into remission by the blood He shed on the Cross, as quoted below,
Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.
Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Hebrews 10:18-22
In the days of Jesus, great multitudes were impotent to the Spirit of God, blind to the life God wanted them to live, withered in their spirit, and waiting for any morsel of hope for improvement in their afflicted life. The sacrifice Jesus made as the Lamb of God brought reconciliation to God to bring the human spirit into fellowship with the Holy Spirit. By the remission of sin, the Holy Spirit lives within us and healing comes to the human spirit. As Jesus Christ said,
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Luke 4:18
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
We live in times when those who govern this world want people to be spiritually afflicted to give life to the thing which gives people what to think and feel to form what they say and do. People allow the image of the beast to live and speak through them by the thing forming what they say and do. They detest spiritual healing, deny the existence of God, ridicule the life of Holiness in Jesus Christ, and oppose the presence of the Holy Spirit. In their spiritual blindness and spiritual infirmities of all types, they are conformed to the anti-Christian global culture. They are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they say and do.
We can assess that there are many people in this world who need the healing pool of the Water of Life to immerse themselves into. The diagnosis is that the global culture has closed down the pool of spiritual healing by making a dry desert of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We plan to immerse ourselves into the healing waters to open our eyes spiritually, to become potent through Jesus Christ, and to walk in the Holy Spirit. We implement that plan by receiving Jesus Christ who enables the Holy Spirit to live in us like a fountain of living water. We know the plan is successful when the desire of our heart and soul is to walk in Holiness as the Water of Life moves within us.
People are lead astray from Christ in pursuit of physical healings. “For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had.” John 5:4
Today, we know the only water of healing is the Water of Life which flows from the Spirit of God through Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Water of Life who brings healing to the soul and spirit by the remission of sin and the infilling of the Holy Spirit.
Today, there is a thing in this world with power over physiology and it portrays itself as a pool of healing. The masses of people of the global culture follow it because of its ability to heal the body in many different ways, but it blasphemes God, discards the need for Jesus Christ, and tramples on the Holy Spirit.
And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast.
Revelation 13:3
The “his” in the verse above refers to the beast behind the image and mark of the beast.
Its purpose is to use its power over physiology to lead the human spirit astray from the Spirit of Christ. The intent is to make people receptive to the thing which forms what they think, feel, say and do. It enables the image of the beast to live and speak through people and as it lives and speaks through them, they are conformed to their place in life. They are conformed to their mark in life as they are groomed to the mark of the beast.
We can assess that people will step into any stirring of waters that bring them physical healings. The diagnosis is that the global culture depends on the thing with power over physiology for their healings, but they reject the healing of the spirit and soul through Jesus Christ. We plan to depend on our Lord Jesus Christ for the healing which comes by the Water of Life, which is the healing coming by the remission of sin and reconciliation with God our Creator. We implement that plan by our faith in God and belief in the Gospel of Christ instead of stepping into the waters of this world’s blasphemous physical healings. We know the plan is successful when we see Jesus Christ as the healer of the soul and spirit and realize that physical healings do nothing to reconcile us to God.
Jesus asks us, “Do you want to be made well?” “Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” John 5:5-6
In the previous verses, there was a marketplace selling sheep and a pool of water where people with a physical infirmity depended on that pool for their healing. It was there where our Lord Jesus Christ brought His offer of healing to a man who was waiting thirty-eight years for a physical healing. Jesus asked him, “Do you want to be made well?”
Today, we would be waiting a very long time for the healing of the physical body to occur. Mainly because it is after this body wears out and dies that we receive a new body in the new heaven and earth. In this world, Jesus Christ offers the healing of the spirit and soul through the remission of sin as we receive the Holy Spirit and are reconciled to God. The healing Jesus gives enables us to walk in the Spirit. In other words, we should not depend on the water of physical healing which this world offers but to have faith in Jesus Christ who gives us spiritual healing and He asks each of us, “Do you want to be made well?”
Physical healings are offered in this world by the thing which has power over physiology and every function of the cells of the body. It is the same thing which forms what people think, feel, say, and do. It enables the image of the beast to live and speak through people in every city around the world, and those who faithfully serve it know all about physical miracles. Jesus Christ asks them, “Do you want to be made well?” but they detest the healing of the spirit and soul that comes by the remission of sin. They live for the human creature and detests the Creator God, discards the need for Jesus, ridicules the presence of the Holy Spirit, and detests the life of Holiness. The masses around the world are conformed to the anti-Christian global culture as they are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they say and do.
When the Lord Jesus asks us, “Do you want to be made well?” He knows the infirmity of sin which withers our spirit and plagues the soul. Our illness is to be separated from God, not being able to see Jesus Christ as the source for the remission of sin, and unable to embrace the Holy Spirit. No matter how long we have lived in sin, we can be made well by living for Jesus Christ, which heals our relationship with God, and enables us to walk in the Holy Spirit.
We only have to answer “Yes” to the question Jesus asks, “Do you want to be made well?” Answering “Yes” means we believe God and accept Him as our Creator, we accept what Jesus Christ did for us on the Cross for the remission of sin, and we embrace the Holy Spirit. It’s spiritually healthy to have the image of Christ living and speaking through us but is spiritual death to have the image of the beast living and speaking through us.
We can assess that Jesus Christ asks us, “Do you want to be made well?” The diagnosis is that the masses around the world want physical healings and ridicules the idea of spiritual healing. We plan to answer “Yes” as we desire to be made well in spirit and soul by the remission of sin which Jesus Christ offers. We implement that plan by accepting what Jesus Christ did for us on the Cross to atone for sin, embracing the Holy Spirit, and being reconciled to God our Creator. We know the plan is successful when we experience spiritual life and walk in the Spirit of Holiness.
Depending on human means to bring spiritual healing is a lost cause. “The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” John 5:7
As soon as the water was stirred up, those with physical infirmities would rush to plunge themselves into the pool of water. Unfortunately, the crippled man wasn’t able to outrun anybody into the pool of water and no one was willing to help him. However, Jesus Christ approached the crippled man and asked, “Do you want to be made well?” The crippled man was about to receive the best healing of all, without being plunged into the mystical healing waters. He was about to know Jesus Christ personally and be among the first to believe in God through Jesus.
Today, the crowds of people in every city around the world are rushing into the healing water of the anti-Christian thing which has power over physiology, as quoted, “And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast.” Revelation 13:3. “His” in the verse above refers to the beast which is behind the image and mark of the beast.
Jesus Christ comes to those who are not among the masses, and He offers His brand of healing to us. Jesus came to offer us the Water of Life to heal our spirit and soul, and He has nothing to do with the mystical waters which are stirred up within the global culture. The global culture welcomes the thing with power over physiology which is able to form their thoughts, feelings, words, and behaviors. It enables the image of the beast to live and speak through the masses and people welcome it for its power over physiology. They are conformed to the anti-Christian global culture as they are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they say and do.
Today, we live in an anti-Christian global culture which wears the fig leaf of humanism as they pride themselves in promoting human dignity, human respect, self-esteem, and social healing. However, when it comes to healing the human spirit and soul by reconciling a person to the Spirit of God through Jesus, they are very selfish, unsympathetic, and not portraying a humanitarian spirit at all. They live for the rewards of money, possessions, and social approval.
We can assess that people cannot depend on other people to give them the healing they need. The diagnosis is that either people will depend on the blasphemous thing with power over physiology for physical healings or they will depend on Jesus Christ for the healing of the spirit and soul. We plan to put our faith in Jesus Christ to give us spiritual healing so that we can walk in the Spirit. We implement that plan by receiving Jesus Christ for the remission of sin so that we can walk in the Spirit of Holiness. We know the plan is successful when we no longer look to people for our spiritual health but look only to Jesus for the health of our spirit and soul.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
(Church Song)
Jesus tells us to take up our bed and walk. “Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked.” John 5:8-9a.
Our Lord Jesus Christ speaks the word to us to, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” He wants us to rise up from our spiritual bed to begin walking in the Spirit. The Gospel of Christ and the Holy Spirit enables us to walk in the Spirit of Jesus. We can be home bound, and bed bound physically due to physical reasons, but we can walk in the Spirit of Christ from whatever physical position we are in.
The global culture of today prohibits people from walking in the Spirit because they are mandating the non-spiritual thing which forms what people think, feel, say, and do. It enables the image of the beast to live and speak through them and by what they say and do they ridicule the presence of the Spirit, make a mockery of living for Jesus Christ, and deny the existence of God the Creator. People in every city around the world conform to the anti-Christian global culture as they are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they say and do.
We can assess that through Jesus Christ we are able to rise from the bed of a withered spirit and sin sick soul to walk in the Spirit. The diagnosis is that the global culture wants to put people to bed spiritually to prohibit us from walking in the Spirit with Jesus Christ. We plan to follow the word of God through the Gospel of Christ because our faith in Him makes us well in spirit and soul. We implement that plan by living for the Spirit and not becoming intimate with earthly values, as quoted, “Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” James 4:4 We know the plan is successful when we live in the Spirit and walk with our Lord Jesus Christ, as quoted, “Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” Galatians 5:16-18
Laws are established to prevent healing through the Gospel of Christ. “And that day was the Sabbath. The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.” John 5:9b.-10
On legal grounds, the Jewish leaders protested against the spiritual healing of a man who began to walk in his faith towards Jesus Christ. The only thing the Jewish leaders cared about were their laws and rituals, regardless of the healings which were done by the Lord Jesus. They totally destroyed their day of worship by completely ignoring the Spirit of God’s word and being very legalistic. They had no compassion, love, or mercy for the people but put heavy burdens on the spirit instead, “For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.” Matthew 23:4
Today, there are many legal grounds used to protest against the spread of the Gospel of Christ without specifically mentioning Christianity. They do it in the name of “democracy” as they build their anti-Christian global culture. For example, there are no classifications available on social media sites for individual Christians. City sound ordinances etc. prohibit evangelism on street corners, not to mention city ordinances against public gatherings without a proper permit. Spreading the testimony of Jesus Christ is prohibited not only by laws against solicitation but also by the hostility of residents who detest being spoken to about the need for the remission of sin. On top of that, the values of the Bible are no longer integrated by government lawmakers into the policies they write. The educational system has tossed out the teachings of the Bible and Christianity is unwanted in every sector of society.
Through Daniel, the Holy Spirit reveals to us how the legal system is used to seal the fate of Christianity to eliminate the Gospel of Christ. That can be read in Daniel 6:1-9 in the post Conspiracy to change laws to afflict and eliminate Christianity. And also in Daniel 6:10-17 in the post Government Laws Seal Christian Persecution.
Today, the only thing which matters in society is to fulfill the agenda of the global government. They use a lot of churchy and humanitarian sounding laws to enforce their agenda and promote what they are doing. For example, they talk about “Reproductive Rights” to explain the killing of the unborn and they talk about the “Respect for Marriage Act” when promoting the LGBQT+ community. Their laws are being enforced by national governments who are changing culture, heritage, and constitutions to meet the global goals.
The global agenda is not just enforced through written laws but also through those who only acknowledge the unwritten laws which lives through them by the thing forming their thoughts, feelings, words and behaviors. They are allowing the image of the beast to live and speak through them, and the global government derives their power and authority through those masses around the world. As it lives and speaks through them, people are conformed to their station in life within the “democratic” society. As they accept their place in life, or mark in life, they are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they say and do. Laws, regulations, policies, etc. are being enforced through them.
God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit has been erased from the unwritten and written laws of communities around the world. It has become practically illegal to bring healing to the human spirit by the Spirit of Christ. They have destroyed the presence of the testimony of Jesus from existing in their “democratic” social structure. In these anti-Christian times, we need our Lord Jesus Christ more than ever.
I need Thee every hour,
Most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine
Can peace afford.
(Church Hymn)
We can assess that Sundays are no longer a sacred day when healings occur in the spirit and soul through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The diagnosis is that it is an unspoken law of the global culture that makes the testimony of Jesus Christ illegal in today’s society. Instead of serving God through Jesus Christ they serve their god which gives them what to think, feel, say and do. We plan to receive the word of our Lord Jesus to enable us to get up out of the spiritual bed to walk in the Spirit. We implement that plan by doing what this society prohibits which is to believe God the Creator, acknowledge our need for the remission of sin through Jesus, and to embrace the presence of the Holy Spirit. We know the plan is successful when we do not befriend the global culture, but we choose to live as the faithful few Christians in this world. “Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” James 4:4
We know Jesus Christ and His healing power, but we don’t know Him physically. “He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.’” Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?” But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place.” John 5:11-13
The Jewish leaders pressured people to give physical and worldly answers after the healings they received through Jesus Christ. They sought to kill the body of Jesus to put an end to His influence within the Spirit of God. However, we do not know our Lord Jesus by worldly descriptions and terms, but we know Him by the healing He gives us in the spirit and soul. That healing happens when we come to the Cross to accept the remission of sin through Jesus Christ who gives us the Holy Spirit and reconciles us to God the Creator.
There is no other way to know Jesus than by the Spirit because living life in the flesh will never come to know Him, “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2:14
Jesus will never be known and found among the multitudes of this world because they live by physical standards. The masses in every city around the world follows the thing which forms what they think, feel, say and do which enables the image of the beast to live and speak through them. By what they say and do they are conformed to the anti-Christian global culture as they are groomed to the mark of the beast. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are few and faithful within the global society.
All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
(The “him” in the verse above is the beast behind the image and mark of the beast.)
Revelation 13:8
We can assess that our Lord Jesus Christ is known to us by the healing of the spirit and soul not by physical perceptions. The diagnosis is that those of the global culture only acknowledges the physical world according to the thing giving them what to think, feel, do, and say. We plan to share what we know about Jesus Christ according to the healing that comes by the remission of sin. We implement that plan by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and not trying to share Jesus according to the terms of this world. “Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” Luke 17:20-21 We implement the plan by welcoming Jesus Christ into our life who gives us the Holy Spirit by the remission of sin to reconcile us to God.
In the temple of God Jesus tells us to sin no more. “Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.” John 5:14
After Jesus healed the man in spirit and soul, the man was found in the temple of God. When Jesus Christ puts our sin in remission, we are the temple of the Holy Spirit and that is where we are found as Christians. To willfully sin after that, it would be to choose to reject the welcome once extended to the presence of the Holy Spirit.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we want to be found in the temple of God after being healed within the spirit and soul. By the remission of sin, Jesus gives us the Holy Spirit and we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Once we enter into the presence of the Holy Spirit, if we sin by denying God, rejecting Jesus Christ, and ridiculing the Holy Spirit, something worse would come on us than before. That’s because we would be willfully and consciously opposing the goodness, mercy and grace of God, willfully living in sin and refusing the remission of sin Jesus offers and willfully rejecting the presence of the Holy Spirit.
We are the temple of God, and the sign of our Salvation is our soul being filled with the Spirit of Christ,
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
If we purposely sin against the Holy Spirit within us, then worst things happen than ever before. We are seeing that happening in today’s world as people welcome the thing which forms what they think, feel, say and do. It enables the image of the beast to live and speak through people and by what they say and do they willfully deny God the Creator, reject the remission of sin through Jesus Christ, and ridicule the presence of the Holy Spirit. They are conformed to the anti-Christian global culture as they are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they say and do.
Humanity has become the “man of sin” as the body has become the living place of the thing forming thoughts, feelings, words, and deeds.
“…he opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
(The “he” in the verse above refers to the “man of sin”, the “lawless one”, or the “son of perdition”. Click here for a post on the “man of sin”.
2 Thessalonians 2:4
We can assess that the healing of the spirit and soul invites the Holy Spirit to reside in us as we become the temple of the Holy Spirit. The diagnosis is that the global culture is in a much worse state as they welcome the thing giving them what to think, feel, say, and do. We plan to dedicate our body as the home of the Holy Spirit and not befriending the blasphemous thing that lives in thoughts, words, feelings, and behaviors. We implement that plan by living for Jesus Christ who puts sin in remission and gives the Holy Spirit. We know the plan is successful when we desire for our thoughts, feelings, words, and behaviors to reflect the image of our Lord Jesus Christ.
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” Hebrews 4:12-13
We need to lift up the name of Jesus as the healer of the soul. “The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.” John 5:15
Our Lord Jesus Christ healed a man who was unable to walk for thirty-eight years, and that man told the Jews that Jesus was the one who had healed him. That made the Jewish leaders more determined to put an end to the influence of Jesus. Today, a few people continue to find healing of the spirit and soul through Jesus Christ to enable us to walk in the Spirit. By His death and resurrection, Jesus puts our sin in remission and gives us the Holy Spirit and eternal life. The masses within the global culture are determined to eliminate the Gospel of Jesus Christ from this world.
As followers of Jesus Christ living in the Holy Spirit, our purpose in this life is to tell others it is Jesus who makes us well by making atonement for sin. The purpose of the Holy Spirit in us is to lift up the name of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is given to us by Jesus as we come to Him for the forgiveness of sin and to be reconciled to God.
Today, the message of the Cross has been put in chains. The Gospel of Christ is not being shared in the churches and it has been banned from being spread in public places. Government lawmakers no longer implement the values of the Bible in their policies, the educational system has thrown out the teachings of the Bible from the classrooms, and every sector of society reject Christianity. Christianity has been overcome. Even then, there will always be a faithful few who hold to Jesus until the day He comes back. In whatever way they come to know Jesus Christ, it will happen, even though the majority of Christians have been overcome.
…he was granted to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Revelation 13:8
(The “him” in the verse above refers to the beast behind the image and mark of the beast. He makes war with the saints by his authority within the thing giving people what to think, feel, do, and say. The global culture welcomes the intrusion into their thoughts, feelings, words, and behaviors. It enables the image of the beast to live and speak through them. They are conformed to the anti-Christian global society as they are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they say and do.)
We can assess that when the question is asked or the opportunity arises, we let others know that Jesus Christ is the healer of our spirit and soul. The diagnosis is that we live among a global culture which despises the Gospel of Christ and seeks to eliminate the influence of Jesus. We plan to make the most of every opportunity to let people know about God as the Creator, to talk about the remission of sin through Jesus Christ and eternal life, and to allow the Holy Spirit to speak through us whose purpose is to lift up the name of Jesus. We implement that plan by allowing the word of God to live in us through the verse, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 We know the plan is successful when we have a burning desire in the Spirit to share the Good News of Jesus Christ within an anti-Christians global culture.
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
