“Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” John 5:5-6
In the previous verses, there was a marketplace selling sheep and a pool of water where people with a physical infirmity depended on that pool for their healing. It was there where our Lord Jesus Christ brought His offer of healing to a man who was waiting thirty-eight years for a physical healing. Jesus asked him, “Do you want to be made well?”
Today, we would be waiting a very long time for the healing of the physical body to occur. Mainly because it is after this body wears out and dies that we receive a new body in the new heaven and earth. In this world, Jesus Christ offers the healing of the spirit and soul through the remission of sin as we receive the Holy Spirit and are reconciled to God. The healing Jesus gives enables us to walk in the Spirit. In other words, we should not depend on the water of physical healing which this world offers but to have faith in Jesus Christ who gives us spiritual healing and He asks each of us, “Do you want to be made well?”
Physical healings are offered in this world by the thing which has power over physiology and every function of the cells of the body. It is the same thing which forms what people think, feel, say, and do. It enables the image of the beast to live and speak through people in every city around the world, and those who faithfully serve it know all about physical miracles. Jesus Christ asks them, “Do you want to be made well?” but they detest the healing of the spirit and soul that comes by the remission of sin. They live for the human creature and detests the Creator God, discards the need for Jesus, ridicules the presence of the Holy Spirit, and detests the life of Holiness. The masses around the world are conformed to the anti-Christian global culture as they are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they say and do.
When the Lord Jesus asks us, “Do you want to be made well?” He knows the infirmity of sin which withers our spirit and plagues the soul. Our illness is to be separated from God, not being able to see Jesus Christ as the source for the remission of sin, and unable to embrace the Holy Spirit. No matter how long we have lived in sin, we can be made well by living for Jesus Christ, which heals our relationship with God, and enables us to walk in the Holy Spirit.
We only have to answer “Yes” to the question Jesus asks, “Do you want to be made well?” Answering “Yes” means we believe God and accept Him as our Creator, we accept what Jesus Christ did for us on the Cross for the remission of sin, and we embrace the Holy Spirit. It’s spiritually healthy to have the image of Christ living and speaking through us but is spiritual death to have the image of the beast living and speaking through us.
We can assess that Jesus Christ asks us, “Do you want to be made well?” The diagnosis is that the masses around the world want physical healings and ridicules the idea of spiritual healing. We plan to answer “Yes” as we desire to be made well in spirit and soul by the remission of sin which Jesus Christ offers. We implement that plan by accepting what Jesus Christ did for us on the Cross to atone for sin, embracing the Holy Spirit, and being reconciled to God our Creator. We know the plan is successful when we experience spiritual life and walk in the Spirit of Holiness.
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
