“I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan; You have been very pleasant to me; Your love to me was wonderful, surpassing the love of women.” 2 Samuel 1:26
Jonathan was a son of Saul, but he loved David and helped David to escape death. David loved him like a brother as Jonathan’s love to him was very pleasant and wonderful. The love Jonathan had for David surpassed the love of women, meaning the love shared was in the Spirit of God and surpassed the physical pleasure given by women.
The verse above is part of the “scarlet cord” pointing to the love Jesus Christ has for those who live their life for Him. Jesus calls us brothers (meaning all men and women of Christ), “For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,” Hebrews 2:11 Jesus Christ feels distress for the faithful few who live in a world where the structure of Christianity is dead. At the same time, it is His faithful few followers who are keeping His Gospel alive in this anti-Chrisian world.
For those of this world who say that Jonathan and David had a homosexual relationship, Jesus Christ says this, “Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3 It’s to be expected that a carnal mind would interpret the verse above as a “gay” relationship. They do not see the scriptures through the lens of the Spirit, they do not see the Kingdom of God, and will not see the Kingdom of God in the life to come. They are living by the thing which gives them what to think, say, feel, and do as it enables the image of the beast to live and speak through them. They are being conformed to the global culture as they are groomed to the mark of the beast.
It is also quoted, “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2:14
The Apostle Paul spoke against the homosexual community, and he knew the life of David and the Old Testament law better than anyone ever will. He was a Pharisee of all Pharisees, meaning he was the master of all Masters of Divinity. On top of that, He was the Apostle to the Gentiles, chosen by Jesus Christ Himself, and filled to the brim with the Holy Spirit. He would never blaspheme the Holy Spirit by saying David was subject to vile passions, that he succumbed to the lust of men for men, or that David was a shameful person, or that within David was the penalty of eternal hell.
The Apostle Paul condemned homosexuality as quoted, “For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.” Romans 1:26-27
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
