Achish approves of David as a worldly asset: Jesus Christ is valued by this world only for worldly benefits.

1 Samuel 29:3b.

And Achish said to the princes of the Philistines, “Is this not David, the servant of Saul king of Israel, who has been with me these days, or these years? And to this day I have found no fault in him since he defected to me.” 1 Samuel 29:3b.

The governors of the Philistines did not want David riding with them in battle, so the king of the Philistines (Achish) vouched for David as a worldly asset. Later, in verse 4 (the next post), we see how the will of the governors held more weight than the will of king Achish. The governors were very headstrong, unforgiving, and unyielding. The Israelites/Hebrews were detested so much by the Philistines that even their materialistic benefits meant nothing.

The progression towards the global tribulation and the Battle of Armageddon occurs because the value of individuals is based on money and possessions. People are very headstrong, unforgiving, and unyielding towards Christianity. They place no value on the Spirit and have no belief in eternal life nor of the judgment beyond the grave, so they live for the offerings of this world. As quoted, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” 2 Timothy 3:1-5

The only reason Achish gave a nod of approval to David and his people is because David went on raids and gave the plunder to Achish. He thought David had betrayed the Israelites by working for him against the Israelites. Although Achish believed the plunder given to him was from raiding the Israelites, David was raiding and plundering people with no connection at all to the Jewish/Hebrew nation. As followers of Christ, we are never to follow the ways of the world against God which values money, possessions, and all sorts of worldly prestige over Him, the Lord Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. The Lord Jesus has two very important things to say to us, as quoted below,

Why do you test Me? Bring Me a denarius that I may see it.” So they brought it. And He said to them, “Whose image and inscription is this?” They said to Him, “Caesar’s.” And Jesus answered and said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Mark 12:15b.-17, Matthew 6:19-21

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25
, 3:1
