We are witnesses of the Light of Jesus Christ who brings Salvation to everyone who believes

John 1:6-13

• Sent by God to prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ.
• Sent to share the Light so people will believe in Jesus.
• Followers of Christ are not the Light but are witnesses to the Light of Jesus.
• The world does not recognize Christ, their Creator.
• The Jewish people refused to receive Him.
• Jewish people are the children of God by receiving Jesus Christ.
• Nothing in human efforts brings Salvation, only belief in God.

Sent by God to prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ. “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.” John 1:6 John and Jesus were a team from their mother’s womb. John was born six months before Jesus to let people know that the Messiah was here. John preached the need to prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ. We followers of Jesus Christ are the John’s of today, we are sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ so that people can prepare for when He comes back.

Sent to share the Light so people will believe in Jesus. “This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe.” John 1:7 That is the mission of Christians today, to be a witness that Jesus Christ has come, and He is the Savior of the world. Jesus is the Light of the world, and we are witnesses of His Light. The Holy Bible is full of His Light and as we share the scriptures of the Bible, we are sharing our witness to the Light. Jesus gave us the Holy Spirit to live in us so that His Light would shine through us, and we want to shine as the image of Christ. The Gospel of Christ and the Holy Spirit are for the purpose that people will believe in Him,  “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Followers of Christ are not the Light but are witnesses to the Light of Jesus. “He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.” John 1:8-9 Like John, we are not the Light of the world, we only share the Light of His word through the Holy Spirit. Only Jesus Christ is the true Light, and there are no human beings alive who can walk in those shoes. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is to give light to every single person in this world. The Light is that Jesus is the way to His Father, He is the truth which leads to victory over sin and death, and He is eternal life.

There is a thing in this world which sets itself up as the light of the world. The light it gives relates to intuition and knowledge but is strictly earthbound. It is able to form what a person thinks, feels, and does to endow people with uncanny knowledge, heightened intuition, and unfathomable bits of information. It enables the image of the beast to live and speak through a person, and as it lives and speaks through a person the person is being conformed to their mark in life, their station in life. They are being conformed to the mark of the beast. It is not the true light. It blasphemes God, discards the need for the remission of sin through Jesus, and tramples on the Holy Spirit.

The world does not recognize Christ, their Creator. “He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.” John 1:10 Jesus Christ walked on the face of this earth in a flesh and blood body, an earth which He created, and no one recognizes Him for who He is. That would be like employees not recognizing the owner of a business, and therefore not recognizing his authority in the day-to-day operations. Instead of recognizing Jesus as the Creator, they recognize and honor the creature.

The Jewish people refused to receive Him. “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.” John 1:11 Jesus Christ came to the Jewish people, His own people, because He was their Messiah as prophesied about in the Bible. They did not receive Him as their Savior. To this day, the Jewish nation, including the Israeli citizens and the government of the State of Israel, reject Jesus Christ as the Son of God who came to take away the sin of the world.

Jewish people are the children of God by receiving Jesus Christ.  “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:” John 1:12 Since the coming of Jesus Christ, the Jewish people are no longer the children of God based on their heritage as being the children of God. Today, it’s necessary for the Jewish people to receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. When they come to God through Jesus, then they will be given the right to become children of God. They have to believe in the name of Jesus. As quoted below,

For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.

Romans 2:28

Nothing in human efforts brings Salvation, only belief in God. “…who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:13 There is nothing on this earth we can do to save ourselves. There is nothing within us, apart from Jesus Christ, which can save us. Salvation only comes because God sent His Son Jesus Christ so that whoever believes in Him will be saved. Salvation is for those who believe in the name of Jesus.
