“Then David arose and fled that day from before Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath. And the servants of Achish said to him, “Is this not David the king of the land? Did they not sing of him to one another in dances, saying: ‘Saul has slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands’?” 1 Samuel 21:10-11 David’s popularity was enormous, ever since a young boy when he defeated the giant Goliath, Everyone knew the hostility which Saul had for David because of David’s real and unquestionable valor. David preferred to keep a low profile, but the people of the city where he went blurted out the insult to Saul by repeating the valiant reputation of David.
When Jesus Christ walked on this earth, He asked others not to blurt out and make known His deeds and who He was. He wasn’t looking to stir up conflict with those who would be opposed to His reputation and love among the people. However, people everywhere were lifting up the name of Jesus. The more His fame grew, the more He was conspired against to be put to death. His mission was simply to let everyone know about the Kingdom of God. In the process, He did many compassionate deeds for others,
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
Luke 4:18-19
Today, as we lift up the name of Jesus Christ, things about our most secret thoughts and feelings are publicized and blurted out. There is a thing in this world that is able to form thoughts which make war with the Spirit of Christ. It is able to enflame our feelings against what the Bible says about carnal feelings. It is able to form emotions and behaviors against what we would want t0 do as a Christian. Those who welcome the thing to form what they think, feel, and do enable the image of the beast to live and speak through them. With uncanny knowledge and heightened intuition, they blurt out information and make bodily gestures which we would rather not experience.
Uncanny knowledge, heightened intuition, and bodily gestures are used to afflict and dominate their enemies, especially Christians, like a cat playing with a mouse. “Now David took these words to heart, and was very much afraid of Achish the king of Gath.” 1 Samuel 21:12 David feared the “stink” that would be raised by the king of Achish knowing who he was and the opposition it would present to him. Likewise, Jesus Christ knows the terror of having a whole city coming against Him to kill Him. As a human, He didn’t look forward to His crucifixion on the Cross, but as God He would follow the will of His Father. As followers of Christ, God expects His Spirit to liv in us,
And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and prayed, saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
Luke 22:41-44
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
