Followers of Christ have the judgment of the Holy Spirit. “Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?” As followers of Christ, we live by the Spirit of Christ, but the justice system goes strictly by the letter of the law and makes no judgments according to spiritual matters. Why would anyone take a fellow Christian to a court system that ignores God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit? “Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?” 1 Corinthians 6:2 Our judgment is from the Spirit of God to judge the carnal ways of the world, so how can we not be suitable to judge the smallest matters among ourselves? “Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?” 1 Corinthians 6:3 The Holy Spirit is part of the kingdom of God living in us today, and through Him we judge the angels in Heaven when the time comes. With the Holy Spirit in us today, we should certainly be able to judge the things that we encounter from day to day.
Christians should never take another Christian to a worldly court of law. “If then you have judgments concerning things pertaining to this life, do you appoint those who are least esteemed by the church to judge?” 1 Corinthians 6:4 Those least esteemed by the Church of the Holy Spirit, our body, are those who live by the thing that has power to form what they think, feel, and do. Why would we appoint them to judge between Christians? They despise God, discard the need for Jesus Christ, and trample on the Holy Spirit as they judge according to the mark of the beast. “I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you, not even one, who will be able to judge between his brethren?” 1 Corinthians 6:5 It is shameful that among we who claim Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior there is no one who is able to settle a matter to bring conformity to the Spirit of Christ. “But brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers!” 1 Corinthians 6:6 Followers of Jesus Christ should never find themselves in a worldly court of law against one another.
It is a horror for Christians to be cheated by those claiming to be Christians. “Now therefore, it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another. Why do you not rather accept wrong? Why do you not rather let yourselves be cheated?” 1 Corinthians 6:7 Money and possessions should never be a wedge that comes between us and the Spirit of Jesus Christ. It is better to let go of materialism than to fight other Christians in a secular court over things. In today’s world, they want us to desire money, possessions, and physical comforts more than the Gospel of Jesus. They use materialism as a way to reward us for living carnally and living by the mark of the beast. It’s an utter failure for Christianity when materialism replaces the Holy Spirit. “No, you yourselves do wrong and cheat, and you do these things to your brethren!” 1 Corinthians 6:8 It is more than a horror and tragedy when a person who claims to be a follower of Jesus Christ does wrong and cheats a Christian.
Many among us will not inherit the kingdom of God. “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites,” 1 Corinthians 6:9 We live in a world where esteem is made more important than the remission of sin through Jesus Christ. They consider themselves to be righteous although they live for casual sex, have sex with people other than their spouse, practice the LGBQT+ lifestyle, and live by the mark of the beast. Although they fill the seats in the churches, they will not inherit the kingdom of God.
“…nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.” 1 Corinthians 6:10 The kingdom of God is not for people who cheat, steal, lust for things, are drunkards, are verbally abusive, or extorts money, sex, etc. from others. “And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.” 1 Corinthians 6:11 People can change by coming to God by the remission of sin through Jesus Christ. He gives us the Holy Spirit to set us apart from the lifestyles and attitudes that separate us from the Spirit of Christ. We may find ourselves alone in this world, but at least we are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
The body is made for the Hoy Spirit, not for immorality. “All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.” 1 Corinthians 6:12 Today, people live by the belief that everything is OK and there is no sin. In the days of the Apostle Paul, the laws of the Old Testament were done away with, so in a sense everything became lawful. But Paul emphasizes that not everything is helpful, and we should never be brought under the control of anything carnal. “Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.” 1 Corinthians 6:13 Anything physical and carnal in this world will be destroyed by God, eternal life is found in the Spirit. Sexual immorality is not what the body is created for, the body is created to be the building of the Holy Spirit. “And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power.” 1 Corinthians 6:14 God has power over the body, and in the same way that He raised Jesus Christ from the dead, we will also be raised from the dead. We must live in the Spirit of Christ and not by the carnal standards of this world.
We are molded to the Spirit of Christ, not molded to the mark of the beast. “Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not!” 1 Corinthians 6:15 As followers of Christ, the body is conformed to the Spirit of Christ. The Spirit of Christ is not conformed to the immoral ways of this world. Jesus does not conform to the thing that has the power to form what we think, feel, and do, which synchronizes people to the mark of the beast. “Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” 1 Corinthians 6:16 Those who join with the thoughts, feelings, and emotions of the thing that has power over physiology is made one with the mark of the beast. The same as when the body is joined to a harlot. “But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.” 1 Corinthians 6:17 We are one with Jesus through the Holy Spirit who is in us. We are made to be the building of the Holy Spirit, not the building of the mark of the best.
We are made to be the building of the Holy Spirit. “Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.” 1 Corinthians 6:18 Sexual immorality is a sin against the body, the building of the Holy Spirit. Sexual immorality of every form is rampant in every city around the world, and it denies God, rejects the need for Jesus Christ, and evicts the Holy Spirit. “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” 1 Corinthians 6:19 Our body is the building of the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit is given to us from God through Jesus Christ. We belong to Him, not to the influences of this world. “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” 1 Corinthians 6:20 Jesus Christ gave His life on the Cross to atone for sin, and by the remission of sin we receive the holy Spirit. He paid a debt He did not owe, and we owed a debt we could not pay. Within our mind and heart, we are to glorify God in the name of Jesus.
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
