- When we see the “Morning Star” it’s time to follow Him.
- Follow Jesus Christ and be set apart on our journey to the New Jerusalem.
- Jesus Christ is the word of the Lord, and we should be hearing Him.
- The Cross of Christ enables us to inherit eternal life by walking on dry ground.
When we see the “Morning Star” it’s time follow Him.
“Then Joshua rose early in the morning; and they set out from Shittim and came to the Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they crossed over.” Joshua 3:1
Jesus Christ came to this earth as the Bright and Morning star, starting a new day bringing a new relationship with God. Still, no one could cross over into the new territory until Jesus Christ was raised from the dead after three days. After those three days, we would be able to follow the ark of covenant (which is the Cross of Christ for the remission of sin).
“So it was, after three days, that the officers went through the camp; and they commanded the people, saying, “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you will set out from your place and go after it.” Joshua 3:2-3
The Levites represents the churches made with hands, and they should be carrying the ark of the covenant by letting everyone know that Jesus Christ has risen from the dead for the remission of sins. Unfortunately, the churches of today have discarded the Gospel of Christ and prevent people from crossing over into a relationship with God through Jesus. They embrace humanism, which is the fig leaf worn by those who live for the entity that gives them what to think, feel, say, and do. They do not see past the world they live in.
Follow Jesus Christ and be set apart on our journey to the New Jerusalem.
“Yet there will be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure. Do not come near it, that you may know the way by which you must go, for you have not passed this way before.” Joshua 3:4
There is a gap between the ways of this world and the Cross of Jesus Christ, which leads to the eternal city of the New Jerusalem. The world uses churchy sounding words, but the fig leaf of humanism focuses on the human being while rejecting the presence of a Divine God. The only way for sinners to know our way through this sin-plagued world, and to cross over to the promised land, is by keeping our eye on the Cross of Jesus Christ. We cannot touch the ark of the covenant, which is the forgiveness of sin and eternal life, without Jesus Christ as our leader. Human beings have never been to the New Jerusalem, we do not know our way there, but Jesus does.
On our way to the Eternal City, sanctification is part of our life, which is simply being set apart from the attitudes, desires, and practices of this world. Those who live for today’s culture won’t like that, and they will withhold money, possessions, and physical comforts from us. We have to be willing to live without those things to live for Jesus. “And Joshua said to the people, “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” Joshua 3:5
The ministers of the human-made churches (Levites) are supposed to be following the command of Jesus Christ by leading the way to the New Jerusalem and lifting up His Gospel. Unfortunately, they embrace the community-family frame of mind instead of being set apart as leaders for Jesus Christ. “Then Joshua spoke to the priests, saying, “Take up the ark of the covenant and cross over before the people. So they took up the ark of the covenant and went before the people.” Joshua 3:6
Today, the followers of Jesus Christ have the “ark of the covenant”(Gospel of Christ) written on our heart, and Jesus is the minister of the Church (We are the Church, the temple of the Holy Spirit). We are the leaders who are leading others to the promised land in the name of Jesus.
Jesus Christ is the word of the Lord, and we should be hearing Him.
The people of Israel would come to see Joshua on the same level of leadership as Moses during their journey to the promised land, “And the Lord said to Joshua, “This day I will begin to exalt you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with you.” Joshua 3:7
Joshua symbolizes Jesus Christ whom God made greater than Moses, “For this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house.” Hebrews 3:3 Jesus has given us the victory over sin and death as He leads us into the territory of eternal life. He is the commander of all who carry the ark of the covenant (the Gospel of Jesus Christ), and we are to stand in the waters of life. What God commanded Joshua symbolizes what God commanded Jesus, “You will command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, saying, ‘When you have come to the edge of the water of the Jordan, you will stand in the Jordan.’” Joshua 3:8
The ministers of the churches of today are supposed to be standing in those waters with the Gospel of Christ as a way to lead the congregation. We should be able to go to the churches to hear about the death, resurrection, and ascension of Christ to bring us to God for the remission of sin. That is represented here, “So Joshua said to the children of Israel, “Come here, and hear the words of the Lord your God.” Joshua 3:9
The reason we are not hearing the word of the Lord from the churches is because they are talking about human needs without the need for Jesus Christ. Today, the followers of Jesus Christ are those who stand in the waters to bring His Gospel to the whosoever.
Jesus Christ will drive out the global government and He leads us through this world.
Jesus Christ is going to drive out all the nations that come against Him in this world, but today, it’s just one big nation called the global government with its global culture. They are driven out when Jesus returns, and we who live for Jesus will cross over into the promised land of eternal life. That is symbolized here, ‘‘And Joshua said, “By this you shall know that the living God is among you, and that He will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Hivites and the Perizzites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Jebusites:” Joshua 3:10
There are unGodly waters that flow against us and want to wash us down stream, but the promise of God is with us through Jesus Christ, which is the promise of Salvation by the remission of sin. The ark of the covenant is the promise of Salvation through Jesus Christ, and He leads the way, “Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is crossing over before you into the Jordan.” Joshua 3:11
The waters that come against God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit will be cut off, and will not have a place in the New Jerusalem. The ministers of the churches are supposed to be standing in those waters to warn us of the Christless waters of the world, and to help us to hold back those waters as we travel to the New Jerusalem.
Nowadays, it is up to each follower of Jesus Christ to help one another and to help sinners to see the ark of the covenant (the Cross of Christ). “Now therefore, take for yourselves twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one man from every tribe. And it will come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, will rest in the waters of the Jordan, that the waters of the Jordan will be cut off, the waters that come down from upstream, and they will stand as a heap.” Joshua 3:12-13
The Cross of Christ enables us to inherit eternal life by walking on dry ground.
There are we people in this world on a journey to cross over into the eternal city of the New Jerusalem, and with them are those who carry the Gospel of Jesus Christ (ark of the covenant) to keep us on the right path. Today, Jesus Christ is the Priest of every Believer, and each one of us are His personal Church, we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. He is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. As stated here, “So it was, when the people set out from their camp to cross over the Jordan, with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people…” Joshua 3:14
None of us are to wade or swim in the waters that come against the people of God, but our feet are dipped into those waters. With every doctor appointment, grocery run, day at work, etc. our feet become dipped into the Christless waters. Our communities overflow with those who live for the atheistic entity that gives them what to think, feel, say, and do, but we hold firmly to the Gospel of Christ, “…and as those who bore the ark came to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks during the whole time of harvest)..,” Joshua 3:15
The Gospel of Jesus Christ saves us from being swept away by the Christless floods, to stop us from being swept into Sea of Salt or otherwise known as the Dead Sea. Jesus enables us to withstand the current of opposition so that we remain alive to God and the Holy Spirit. We choose to devote our body as the home of the Holy Spirit and to oppose the entity that wants to make us its seat of government by intertwining itself within thoughts, feelings, words, and behaviors. By holding to the testimony of Jesus Christ, we will cross over into the eternal promised land of the New Jerusalem. That is symbolized here, “…that the waters which came down from upstream stood still, and rose in a heap very far away at Adam, the city that is beside Zaretan. So the waters that went down into the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, failed, and were cut off; and the people crossed over opposite Jericho.” Joshua 3:16
The Gospel of Christ (the ark of the covenant) keeps us set apart from the broad current that rejects God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. The broad way flows with money, possessions, social integration, and physical comforts, but the narrow way of God’s people has minimal of those things. In a sense, we are walking on dry ground as we reject the current of the mainstream society that flows through the social network. We will cross over into eternal life by walking on that dry ground, as represented here, “Then the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan; and all Israel crossed over on dry ground, until all the people had crossed completely over the Jordan.” Joshua 3:17
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
