“Have I not commanded you?
Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed,
for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9
It’s time to claim the promised land of the New Jerusalem.
“After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying…” Joshua 1:1
Joshua has now replaced Moses as the leader of Israel. Whereas Moses was the law giver, Joshua is the one doing battle to occupy the promised land. Today, it’s like the followers of Jesus Christ who has both tablets of the Bible (Old Testament and New Testament), and we are battling to occupy the promised land of the New Jerusalem. Our battle is against Satan and his beast that gives people what to think, feel, say, and do.
The law of Moses has died upon the coming of Jesus Christ who atones for sin and enables us to cross over into the eternal promised land, as represented here, “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel.” Joshua 1:2 Moses died before being able to enter the promised land, which represents the inability of the laws of the Old Testament to bring eternal life. The law without Jesus Christ is dead, but in Him we can enter the eternal promised land.
The victory we have in Jesus Christ is already given to us, and the promised land of the New Jerusalem is already ours, “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.” Joshua 1:3
Christ will never leave nor forsake us on the journey to the New Jerusalem.
Through Jesus Christ, we conquer the wilderness of sin, and we live in a place where the great river of the Water of Life flows within us. The followers of Christ became a great sea of people around the globe, and we will inherit the New Jerusalem as far as we can see. Today, we are experiencing the going down of the Sun.
Our Lord Jesus has given us the Kingdom of God, through the Holy Spirit living within us, and that to the going down of the sun. Today, the Sun is going down on Christianity because the global government and its global culture are trampling it down. Even then, Jesus will never leave nor forsake us. All of that comes with the territory of the people of God, as represented here, “From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, will be your territory.” Joshua 1:4
No one is able to stand before Jesus Christ, and one day every knee will bow, and every tongue confess that He is Lord. “No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.” Joshua 1:5 When we come to God through Jesus, the promise is made to us that He will never leave nor forsake us. With God being for us who can be against us.
Be strong and courageous in living by the teachings of the Holy Scriptures.
As we see the Sun going down on Christianity, the Holy Spirit encourages us in this way, “Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you will give as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.” Joshua 1:6
Whatever we suffer in this world, it is far surpassed by the glory of the inheritance in the New Jerusalem. As followers of Jesus Christ, we see the global government and its global culture, and we see the disappearing of His Gospel. The Holy Bible is being swept under the rug, along with the followers of Christ.
The affliction of the people of God is already here and will continue to intensify, “Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.” Joshua 1:7 Our Lord Jesus said, “Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” Luke 24:44
We must continue to live by the teachings of the Bible and not to deviate from God’s Word, which leads to the infilling of the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ.
Read and think about the Bible day-and-night.
The teachings of the Bible have departed from all levels of government, from the churches, from the schools, and every sector of society. Instead, they live by humanism, which is the fig leaf worn by those who govern and live by the entity giving them what to think, feel, say, and do. They focus on the human being while discarding the need for Jesus Christ. In the schools, they teach how to practice casual sex “safely,” they make the killing of the unborn a casual experience, they encourage same-sex marriages, they have destroyed marriage as ordained by God, etc.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we remain strong and courageous as we face the fire kindled against us. The people of God are feeling the cold winds of affliction in communities around the world. We keep the word of God on our tongue and in our heart as we glorify the name of Jesus and share His testimony. We read the Bible and think on it day and night and have the desire to follow the Holy Scriptures. Our success and prosperity come by living for Jesus Christ, and is not based on physical comforts, money, possessions, or social approval. The Holy Spirit speaks to us about that here, “This Book of the Law will not depart from your mouth, but you will meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Joshua 1:8
As followers of Jesus Christ, we read the Old Testament in combination with the New testament. To us, the whole Bible is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That’s because the Old Testament contains the “scarlet cord” pointing to Jesus as the Christ and Son of God.
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
