Jesus Christ has authority over demons and diseases. In the previous verses, there was a woman with a flow of blood and was also a daughter of a church minister who was dying. Today, the blood of Jesus Christ, which atones for sin, is draining from the churches and from people around the world. The world has died to Christ as His blood no longer flows through its arteries. Healing only comes when individual people reach out to touch Him and His blood is applied to the heart. After that healing, this verse begins, “Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.” Luke 9:1 Today, the Spirit of God does healings in which the blood of Jesus Christ is applied to the heart to atone for sin. Demons are destructive to our body as the home of the Holy Spirit. When authority is given over demons, peace is established with God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit within the mind and heart. Diseases are such things that eat away at the mind and heart of a person which keeps them from making the body the home of the Spirit of Christ. It’s a cancer eating away at the soul. Healing of diseases puts in remission whatever is eating away at the Gospel of Jesus Christ within the soul.
The thing that has power over physiology does healings to give people inner peace and healthy feelings, but it does nothing to bring people to God through Jesus Christ. It drains the redeeming blood of Jesus from the heart and mind, and it is the mark of the beast. Unfortunately, the world follows after it for its healing powers, “And I saw one of its heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and its deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast.” Revelation 13:3
The Gospel of Jesus brings healing to the sick. The preaching of the kingdom of God always has to do with the blood Jesus Christ shed on the Cross to atone for sin. When applied to the heart, His blood brings life in the Holy Spirit. Sicknesses are anything that separates us from coming to Jesus Christ, mars our relationship with the Holy Spirit, and causes us to doubt the existence of God. As followers of Jesus, we are sent to share the Gospel and heal the sick, similar to when He sent His disciples, “He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.” Luke 9:2 Then, His disciples were literally doing physical healings to bring people to the knowledge of Jesus. Today, the thing that does physical healings by the power it has over physiology makes people sicker and sicker to the teachings of Jesus Christ. We are not sent to be healers of the physical body, but we are sent to share the testimony of Christ for the atonement of sin and the healing of the soul.
We sacrifice money, possessions, and physical comforts to live for Jesus. Jesus Christ knew exactly what this world would be like today and exactly what it will be like in the coming days. It is a world founded on the rewards of money, possessions, and physical comforts for those who live by the mark of the beast. Those who are rejected by them, namely the followers of Jesus Christ, have those rewards withdrawn as a form of showing disapproval. It is a system of humanism empowered by the mark of the beast. We are followers of Jesus Christ who make it clear that Jesus is coming back, and we all need to come to Him for the forgiveness of sin. Jesus has these words for us, “And He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece.” Luke 9:3 As the people of God, we are walking on the narrow way, and we are not part of the broad way of mainstream society who thrives on materialism and carnal desires.
Jesus Christ opens doors, and He closes doors. Jesus has said that He is the gate of the sheep, and no one enters the door except through Him. He also said that anyone trying to enter by any other way are robbers and thieves. Those who welcome the followers of Jesus Christ into their home are welcoming Jesus Christ. That is a warm and mutual fellowship among people whom we could stay with for a while. There are other people who are adamant against welcoming the people of God into their house and reject the presence of the Holy Spirit. We should stay away from them. “Whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. And whoever will not receive you, when you go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet as a testimony against them.” Luke 9:4-5 Today, cities around the nation and world are living for the mark of the beast and reject the teachings of the Bible and everyone who spreads the Gospel. The followers of Jesus are confined to their homes as a fire has been kindled against the people of God, “It was granted to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given it over every tribe, tongue, and nation. All who dwell on the earth will worship it, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” Revelation 13:7-8
The Gospel has reached global proportions. “So they departed and went through the towns, preaching the Gospel and healing everywhere.” Luke 9:6 Because of the ministry of the disciples 2000 years ago, the world has been permeated with the Gospel of Christ. Since about 1946, immediately after WW2, the mark of the beast entered the world and the Gospel message sharply declined. Even so, to mention the name of Jesus or flash a Cross and people worldwide knows the meaning. Likewise, mention “666” or the mark of the beast and people are aware of it, although many erroneously associate those things with a computer chip in the right hand or in the forehead. More and more people are starting to realize that the mark of the beast is the thing that has power over our physiology to form pour thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. They now are beginning to understand what this means, “…it opposes and exalts itself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that it sits in the temple of God, showing itself that it is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:4 Our body is the temple of God. As followers of Jesus Christ, we continue to spread the message of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation.
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
