Joseph Promises to Bury Jacob with His Ancestors: God Promises to Honor Israel with their Heritage at the End

The people of God grew exponentially while being set apart from the rest of the world. Jacob (Israel) and his family moved to Goshen with a total of about seventy Jewish people, including Joseph and Joesph’s two sons. Their occupation as shepherds (other than Joseph and his two sons) was abominable to the Egyptians, and they were set apart from the Egyptian society. While in Goshen, they grew exponentially in numbers from the seventy. “So Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions there and grew and multiplied exceedingly.” Genesis 47:27 Their growing population would be enslaved after the death of Joseph, Jacob, and all of Jacob’s twelve sons. That is the population whom Moses (of the tribe of Levi) would lead out of Egypt. Within the growing population of the Jewish people was the tribe of Judah, which is the family lineage of Jesus Christ. Jesus would be born to reconcile us to God by sacrificing his life for the atonement of sin. His followers are set apart from the world, in the land of “Goshen”, and Christianity has grown exponentially around the world. Today, the global government of the beast has come against the people of God, God Himself, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. They have made the mark of the beast their god. Even so, Jesus Christ is returning to lead us to the promised land of the New Jerusalem.

Israels lives in “Goshen” for a short time compared to their lifespan. “And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years. So the length of Jacob’s life was one hundred and forty-seven years.” Genesis 47:28 Jacob is literally the father of the nation of Israel which exists in the world today. The Israelites of today have descended from one of the twelve tribes, meaning they are descendants of one of Jacob’s twelve sons. When Jesus came, the Jewish nation began to die because they rejected Jesus Christ, and they are the branch that was cut off, “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.” John 15:1-2 Even then, in 1948 God gave them their very own “Goshen” called “Israel”, not for their sake but for the sake of His Holy name, “Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “I do not do this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name’s sake, which you have profaned among the nations wherever you went.” Ezekiel 36:22-23

Israel wants to die in the legacy of the forefathers. Today, the nation of Israel has been fighting by tooth and nail to defy being conformed to the territory around them. Conformity would bring them into an alliance with the global government of the mark of the beast. There seems to be some progress in that direction, with turbulence. (Who can really depend on news sources in this matter). With their dying breathe, they beg God not to leave the death of their legacy connected to this world’s system, “When the time drew near that Israel must die, he called his son Joseph and said to him, “Now if I have found favor in your sight, please put your hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me. Please do not bury me in Egypt…” Genesis 47:29 In the name of God, by the authority of Jesus Christ, Israel would rather fight for their nation than to bow to the terms given to them by the global government of the beast. That defiance carries their legacy out of this world into a legacy with their ancestors, “…but let me lie with my fathers; you shall carry me out of Egypt and bury me in their burial place. And he said, “I will do as you have said.”” Genesis 47:30 Even as antisemitism rises around the world, Israel will suffer persecution in today’s world. Suffering violence and defeat at the hands of a military force, for rejecting collaboration with global integration, would find favor with God. In today’s world, that is the only way they could retain their legacy and would be a promise God would keep, “Then he said, “Swear to me.” And he swore to him. So Israel bowed himself on the head of the bed.” Genesis 47:30
