The Sun stands still and the Moon stops: The annihilation of the planet.

“For the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth are shaken. The earth is violently broken,
the earth is split open, the earth is shaken exceedingly. The earth will reel to and fro like a drunkard, and will totter like a hut; Its transgression will be heavy upon it, and it will fall, and not rise again.” Isaiah 24:18-20

The whole chapter of Isaiah 24 mirrors the catastrophe talked about in this chapter of Joshua. We are already seeing the birth of earthly catastrophes and a planet that is off kilter.

“Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.” So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the people had revenge upon their enemies.” Joshua 10:12-13

This is prophecy coming from God referring to the Sun standing over Gibeon and the Moon standing in the Valley of Aijalon. Gibeon was the place of those faithful to God and Aijalon was the place of the enemies of God. This act was to give the people of God victory over their enemies. Likewise, there is a catastrophic day coming to this earth when the present heaven and earth will be totally destroyed and the Lord will create a new heaven and earth for His people to live eternally in the New Jerusalem. This is a day of victory over our enemies. The Son shines on those who live for God through Jesus Christ, but the moon is over those who live for the atheistic culture of this world.

Today, everyone around the world already knows something is terribly off-kilter with the planet. Global warming is here as described in Revelation 16:18-9 of the Fourth Plague. Solar storms/solar flares are a routine occurrence. Not to mention endless earthquakes, tsunamis, floodings, deadly flash floodings, etc.

This is also the prophecy of God giving insight into the destruction of this present heaven and earth. When the Sun and Moon stands still, it is totally catastrophic to this planet. The catastrophic events happening when the earth stops rotating are described in the next paragraphs.

Catastrophic destruction of the earth.
For the Sun to hover in one spot is for the earth to stop turning and rotating, and that would explain the destruction of this planet. The standing still of the Sun and the stopping of the Moon is permanent annihilation of the planet. It is done! What happens here is the revenge of God against those who despise His children, “For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they will become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me.” Zachariah 2:8-9

When the earth quits rotating and the Moon stands still, the following would be the results,

1. We would be propelled from Earth at a speed of 1000 miles per hour. (No survivors)
2. The oceans would continue moving at 1000 miles per hour and create a massive tsunami. (No survivors)
3. We would be faced with supersonic wind moving at (you guessed it) 1000 miles per hour. (No survivors)
4. The earth would be ripped apart.  “…and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth. Now the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell.” Revelation 16:18-19 (No survivors)
5. The oceans would pool at the North and South poles.
6. Earth’s magnetic field would be gradually reduced as spinning would slow down.

“And there were noises and thunderings and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such a mighty and great earthquake as had not occurred since men were on the earth. Now the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great Babylon was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath. Then every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. And great hail from heaven fell upon men, each hailstone about the weight of a talent. Men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, since that plague was exceedingly great.” Revelation 16:18-21

The Holy Spirit made sure the utterance about the Sun standing still and the Moon stopping was included in the Holy Scriptures. It prophetically mirrors the devastating destruction to this plan when God destroys this present heaven and earth. Whatever happened on the day that Joshua asked God to make the Sun stand still, and to stop the Moon only God will know. He is the Creator of all things and is able to do whatever He wants. But the Holy Spirit wants us to take it to heart about the Sun standing still, and the Moon stopping.

The book of Jasher.
“Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the Lord heeded the voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel.” Joshua 10:13-14

The book of Jasher is a text that has been copied many times, and no original texts exist. It is considered by human beings to be one of the lost books of the Bible. The book of Jasher that does exist is as close to an original as what can be found, but experts have a lot of doubts about its 100% authenticity. One thing for sure, the Holy Spirit wants us to take it to heart about the Sun standing still and the Moon stopping.

The new heaven and new earth.
“Then Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to the camp at Gilgal.” Joshua 10:15

Joshua and all of Israel represents every single Believer who will return with Jesus Christ to the new heaven and new earth of the New Jerusalem. When is this present heaven and earth destroyed? This will happen after we are resurrected at the return of our Lord Jesus Christ [we are resurrected from our earthly graves].

Even then, there is a time of reigning with Jesus Christ for “1000 years” on this earth. We know those “1000 years” are on this earth because during that time, Satan is still alive but bound in chains. Then He is released after those “1000 years” and tries to attack the resurrected saints. We know Satan will never step foot in the New Jerusalem of the new heaven and earth, so the earth is still intact. Also, it is after Satan is destroyed and the final judgment is passed that the New Jerusalem comes [Revelation 21] [All of this is explained in Revelation 20].
