Genesis 45:9-11 are background verses for the rest of this post, and are words spoken by Joseph, “Hurry and go up to my father, and say to him, ‘Thus says your son Joseph: “God has made me lord of all Egypt; come down to me, do not tarry. You shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near to me, you and your children, your children’s children, your flocks and your herds, and all that you have. There I will provide for you, lest you and your household, and all that you have, come to poverty; for there are still five years of famine.” Genesis 45:9-11
- Global government wants to imitate everything God does.
- Enticements of earthly prosperity are not God’s treasures stored in heaven.
- Earthly social and economic blessings are not the blessings of the family of God.
- Jesus Christ gives us provisions of the Bread of Life, as this world gives basic essentials.
- Jesus Christ clothes us with the Holy Spirit not the desire for prosperity.
- Christ gives enough provisions to see us through this life into the New Jerusalem.
- Jesus Christ is alive and is the Lord of lords.
Global government wants to imitate everything God does. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 makes it clear that the government of the mark of the beast sets itself up as God, “Let no one deceive you by any means; for that day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, which opposes and exalts itself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that it sits in the temple of God, showing itself that it is God.” We are the temple of God. In Genesis 45:9-11, Jospeh has already told his brothers to come to where he is, and they would have all the provisions they need. In the following verses 16-23, the Pharoah is making that same offer. Joseph represents Jesus Christ, and the Pharoh represents the global government of the mark of the beast. As is seen in today’s world, those who live by the mark of the beast, in the name of humanism, wants to mimic everything God does. In fact, the churches and humanism are the “two horns like a lamb” of the beast, “Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon.” Revelation 13:11 The government of the mark of the beast gives earthly provisions but does not believe in anything beyond this world. God gives eternal provisions and the provisions of the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ. This earthly government is destined for eternal torment, God offers eternal Salvation through His Son Jesus.
Enticements of prosperity are not God’s treasures that come from heaven. “Now the report of it was heard in Pharaoh’s house, saying, “Joseph’s brothers have come.” So it pleased Pharaoh and his servants well.” Genesis 45:16 The society who lives by the mark of the beast are pleased when more people are inducted into their Christless community, the same way as followers of Christ are pleased when new Believers are added to the family of God. Unfortunately, the society of the mark of the beast are living for the thing that has power over physiology as they whittle away Christianity. The masses desire the mark of the beast because it offers prosperity, money, possessions, and physical comforts, as prophetically written here, “And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Say to your brothers, ‘Do this: Load your animals and depart; go to the land of Canaan.” Genesis 45:17 In contrast, God loads the cart of our heart with treasures that come in the name of Jesus Christ. The global government of the mark of the beast offers to give the best of the land through a global economy, “Bring your father and your households and come to me; I will give you the best of the land of Egypt, and you will eat the fat of the land.” Genesis 45:18 In the process of promising prosperity, those who follow Jesus Christ are not on the broad way of mainstream society, so they experience destitution, a minimal amount of money, possessions, and other resources.
Earthly social and economic blessings are not the blessings of the family of God. Those who govern by the mark of the beast establishes their social network on a social and economic foundation. In other words, social integration and having a family goes hand-in-hand with having money and possessions. All of that serves as rewards for those who live by the mark of the beast, in the name of humanism. That was a command of Pharoah, who had no relationship to God, as he brought up the family into a place of prosperity, “Now you are commanded—do this: Take carts out of the land of Egypt for your little ones and your wives; bring your father and come. Also do not be concerned about your goods, for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours.’” Genesis 45:19-20 God is also going to bring up all of the family of Jesus Christ into the blessings of the New Jerusalem, which is in a new heaven and earth after this heaven and earth perishes.
Jesus Christ gives us provisions of the Bread of Life, as this world gives basic essentials. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are grateful for the SNAP benefits and housing assistance that keeps us fed and housed. Many people are not that lucky under a governing system that boasts of their humanism, their uncanny ability to know, and which lives by the mark of the beast. With the allotment of earthly survival needs; Jesus Christ gives us provisions from the Bread of Life to help us endure along the journey in this Christless world. That is symbolized as Joseph gave according to the command of Pharoah, and gave provisions for the journey, “Then the sons of Israel did so; and Joseph gave them carts, according to the command of Pharaoh, and he gave them provisions for the journey.” Genesis 45:21
Jesus Christ clothes us with the Holy Spirit not the desire for prosperity. Jesus Christ gives us a change of clothes, which is to clothe us with the Holy Spirit as we throw off the desires for this world’s commodities and comforts. Those who betray Him are like ravenous wolves, they discard the need for Jesus Christ and tosses off the clothing of the Holy Spirit. They have their hand out for the prosperity, money, possessions, and physical comforts of this world. Speaking of Joseph, who represents Christ, “He gave to all of them, to each man, changes of garments; but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver and five changes of garments.” Genesis 45:22 The last days meaning of Benjamin is a ravenous wolf who rips apart the prey in the morning (Genesis 49:1-27). I imagine having as many changes of garments as Benjamin is like symbolizing the need to forgive 70 x 7 as people afflict the followers of Christ for 300 pieces of silver. We know Judas received thirty pieces of silver for betraying Jesus, imagine what three hundred pieces of silver was worth back in the days of Genesis!
Christ gives enough provisions to see us through this life into the New Jerusalem. “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 Jesus Christ provides for the journey through this Christless world, “And he sent to his father these things: ten donkeys loaded with the good things of Egypt, and ten female donkeys loaded with grain, bread, and food for his father for the journey. Genesis 45:23 With the abundance of grace, and having sufficiency for every good work, we should not become troubled in our journey through this world. “So he sent his brothers away, and they departed; and he said to them, “See that you do not become troubled along the way.” Genesis 45:24 A day is coming when we will pass from this world into the eternal city of the New Jerusalem to be with God the Father, as the Holy Spirit symbolizes here, “Then they went up out of Egypt, and came to the land of Canaan to Jacob their father.” Genesis 45:25
Jesus Christ is alive and is the Lord of lords. The best news that anyone can hear is that Jesus Christ is still alive. There were Jewish people, and non-Jews as well, who were very saddened to hear of the death of Jesus Christ. When news began to circulate that He was alive, which is mingled with evidence of His resurrection, their hearts stood still, and it was very hard to believe. Joseph represents Jesus Christ, “And they told him, saying, “Joseph is still alive, and he is governor over all the land of Egypt.” And Jacob’s heart stood still, because he did not believe them.” Genesis 45:26 As followers of Jesus Christ, that is the news that we want to share, Jesus Christ is alive, and He is the Lord of lords and King of kings. Believing comes by hearing the word of God and seeing the blessings of the Holy Spirit. That testimony is a huge contrast to the Christless ways of those who live for the materialism within the society of the mark of the beast. The testimony of Jesus revives the soul. “But when they told him all the words which Joseph had said to them, and when he saw the carts which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived.” Genesis 45:27 When we believe in our heart and confess with our mouth that Jesus is alive, we will inherit eternal life, and will go see the Father. The Holy Spirit shows that in this statement, “Then Israel said, “It is enough. Joseph my son is still alive. I will go and see him before I die.” Genesis 45:28
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
