The Authority of Christ to Cleanse the Soul

Luke 4:31-44

  • There is Holy Spirit authority through Jesus Christ, not like Christless churches.
  • The Spirit of Christ brings healing in the family for Christian service.
  • Jesus Christ is willing to heal anyone who comes to Him.
  • The Gospel must go forward even against the will of the people.

There is Holy Spirit authority through Jesus Christ, not like Christless churches. Every Sunday, Jesus was teaching in a much different way than what people were used to experiencing. His teachings were with authority. “Then He went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbaths. And they were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority.” Luke 4:32 The authority that comes from the mark of the beast is very much different than the authority of the Holy Spirit. The difference is that through the Spirit of Christ people have life-changing experiences of Salvation. Today, nobody in the churches, nor anywhere else in the community, wants to hear about the teachings of the Bible. They have nothing to do with the Gospel and recognize Jesus Christ as being contrary to what they have built through their “community family” frame of mind. “Now in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!” Luke 4:33-34

Those in the churches know who Jesus Christ is, but only for the purpose of opposing Him. But when a person experiences the Holy Spirit power in the name Jesus, hostile demons to His Deity comes out, “But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him.” Luke 4:35 That is the difference between the Christless teachings in the churches today and the Holy Spirit authority found in Jesus Christ. The Gospel of Jesus is all about Salvation and cleansing people of unclean spirits. “Then they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, “What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.” And the report about Him went out into every place in the surrounding region.” Luke 4:36-37

Jesus Christ brings healing in the family for Christian service. While there is demonic activity in the churches and full of unclean spirits, there are other afflictions of sicknesses in the home. The ministry of Jesus Christ continues when the services of the churches end. The Spirit of Christ lives in our heart when we visit others, and there is nothing we want more than to see the loved ones of our friends being healed from an affliction. These are not physical healings coming from the thing that has power over physiology, these are healings that result in service to Jesus among Believers. “Now He arose from the synagogue and entered Simon’s house. But Simon’s wife’s mother was afflicted with a high fever, and they made request of Him concerning her. So He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she arose and served them.” Luke 4:38-39 The healing of the body is for every follower of Jesus Christ and will happen when we enter the eternal city of the New Jerusalem.

Jesus Christ is willing to heal anyone who comes to Him. The healings that Jesus brings are not the healings that happen by the thing that has power over physiology. Those type of healings happen all the time and is a big reason why the masses choose to live by the mark of the beast, “And I saw one of its heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and its deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast.” Revelation 13:3 Its healings are to coerce a person into making the body the temple of the mark of the beast. The healings of Jesus are to reconcile us to God, to inspire us to glorify the name of Jesus, and to make us desire the presence of the Holy Spirit. The healings of Jesus cast out demons to redeem our body as the temple of the Holy Spirit. “When the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them. And demons also came out of many, crying out and saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of God!” And He, rebuking them, did not allow them to say they knew that He was the Christ.” Luke 4:40-41 Sometimes, the best testimony for Jesus Christ is the change that people see in us and not the words that they hear from us.

The best way to come to know Jesus is not based on the words of someone else, but to experience the Spirit of Jesus Christ within our own heart. It’s a wonderful day when after hearing the Gospel of Christ, there is a revelation in our heart that proclaims, “You are the Christ, the Son of God!” “Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:16-18 The Church is built within the heart of individual people as we are the temple of the Holy Spirit.

The Gospel must go forward even against the will of the people. Today, the masses of people who live for the society governed by the mark of the beast are restraining the spread of the Gospel of Christ. They put on pleasant faces and use churchy sounding words in the process of prohibiting the testimony of Jesus Christ, but they can also be rude and intimidating. Even in these Christless times, the Gospel must go forward. As followers of Jesus Christ, our purpose is to glorify His name and to spread the message of John 3:16. Jesus sets the example that no matter how much the crowds put us in a bear hug, the message of the Cross must go forward, “Now when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place. And the crowd sought Him and came to Him and tried to keep Him from leaving them; but He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.” And He was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.” Luke 4:42-44

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
