Joseph Interprets Two Dreams: Jesus Christ Discerns Our Heart and Judgment is in His Hand

Genesis 40

  • Like Joseph, Jesus Christ lives among the prisoners of this world to serve us.
  • Like Joseph, Jesus Christ interprets what is in the heart of people.
  • Like Joseph, Jesus Christ sees the fruitful heart rooted in Him.
  • Like Josph, Jesus wants to be remembered and freed within the hearts of sinful people.
  • Like Joseph, Jesus Christ sees the sin of an unfruitful heart.
  • Like with Joseph, the judgment of God will come through Jesus Christ.

Like Joseph, Jesus Christ lived among the prisoners of this world to serve us. Joseph upheld his righteousness in the face of sensual seductions, and due to false accusations, he was thrown into prison. Those who govern by the mark of the beast cares for nothing nor no one except for their own power and authority. If any among their society, who live by the mark of beast, are offended by someone then consequences come against the offender. In that environment, those who live by the teachings of Jesus Christ are automatically an offense to them, the same as those who purposely come against them in worldly ways. The righteous and the Christless find themselves together in the same prison. Likewise, the righteous and sinful inhabitants of this planet are prisoners together within a perishing world of sin. Jesus came to live among the prisoners of this world to bring a message that sets us free. In the process, He was arrested and crucified due to false accusations. That is represented by Joseph being imprisoned with other prisoners, “It came to pass after these things that the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt offended their lord, the king of Egypt. And Pharaoh was angry with his two officers, the chief butler and the chief baker. So he put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard, in the prison, the place where Joseph was confined.” Genesis 40:1-3. While Jesus Christ lived among the prisoners of sin, God placed all of the imprisoned of this earth into His care. He served us by offering Himself as the atonement for sin. Joseph is symbolic of Jesus, “And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he served them; so they were in custody for a while.” Genesis 40

Like Joseph, Jesus Christ interprets what is in the heart of people. People of this sin-imprisoned world have their own dreams, but the root of those dreams come down to two sources, those who desire to serve Jesus Christ and those who reject Him. That is represented through the two people in this verse, “Then the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were confined in the prison, had a dream, both of them, each man’s dream in one night and each man’s dream with its own interpretation.” Genesis 40:5 Jesus Christ sees the sadness of the heart of every person who lives on this planet, and He asks us, “Why do you look so sad?” Joseph is symbolic of Jesus “And Joseph came in to them in the morning and looked at them, and saw that they were distraught. So he asked Pharaoh’s officers who were with him in the custody of his lord’s house, saying, “Why do you look so sad today?” Genesis 40:6-7 Jesus sees the content of our heart, whether it’s the mourning of the righteous who grieve this Christless world, or the sadness of the unGodly who are worried about the consequences of what they’ve done. “And they said to him, “We each have had a dream, and there is no interpreter of it.” So Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell them to me, please.” Genesis 40:8. The judgment of Christ comes by the content of our heart and by what we do on this earth.

Like Joseph, Jesus Christ sees the fruitful heart rooted in Him. A blameless heart sees Jesus Christ as the vine and sees the trinity as being God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We come to God through Jesus Christ for the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Within us, Salvation buds to make our body the home of the Holy Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit of Christ comes from within us, which includes glorifying His name and sharing His Gospel. That should be within the heart of every person, as is in the heart of a butler, “Then the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, “Behold, in my dream a vine was before me, and in the vine were three branches; it was as though it budded, its blossoms shot forth, and its clusters brought forth ripe grapes.” Genesis 40:9-10. As followers of Jesus Christ, we bring no harm to those who govern by the mark of the beast, as we relate to them with the Gospel of peace in the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Instead of taking anything away from them, we only want their cup to be filled with the redeeming blood of Jesus Christ, “Then Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand.” Genesis 40:11. God raised Jesus Christ from the grave after three days, and because He lives, we will be raised up as well. His resurrection is also a guarantee of the judgment to come, at which time we will be fully vindicated and receive eternal life. That is the word of Jesus Christ as represented through Joseph, “And Joseph said to him, “This is the interpretation of it: The three branches are three days. Now within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your place, and you will put Pharaoh’s cup in his hand according to the former manner, when you were his butler.” Genesis 40:12-13. Those who govern by the mark of the beast expect honor to be paid to them, they recognize nothing else.

Like Joseph, Jesus wants to be remembered and freed within the hearts of sinful people. Jesus Christ tells us to remember Him when all is well with us, to show Him kindness, and to mention His name to the overseers of this world. When we have money, possessions, and physical comforts those things tend to crowd out the name of Jesus. Today, those things come from the hand of those who govern by the mark of the beast, in the name of humanism, and they require unkind treatment to the teachings of Jesus. What we should be doing is lifting up the name of Jesus to those who have authority over us in this world. Our desire should be to see the freedom of Jesus Christ within the soul of those in this prison called earth. Joseph is a representation of Jesus Christ, “But remember me when it is well with you, and please show kindness to me; make mention of me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this house.” Genesis 40:14. Everyone born into this earth has had our relationship with God stolen from us when Adam sinned. We are imprisoned in sin until we are reconciled to God through Jesus Christ, so it’s necessary to free Jesus from within us. Jesus Christ was stolen away from this world because of sin, and He has been unjustly detained in this Christless world, “For indeed I was stolen away from the land of the Hebrews; and also I have done nothing here that they should put me into the dungeon.” Genesis 40:15

Like Joseph, Jesus Christ sees the sin of an unfruitful heart. Inventory of this world’s commodities is everything to those who govern by the mark of the beast. Money, possessions, and economic development is what makes their society function. People who belong to the society of the mark of the beast are rewarded with such things. It’s not hard to imagine what would happen to resource managers who cannot account for missing commodities. The situation would become heated, and a similar situation happened to a baker, “When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said to Joseph, “I also was in my dream, and there were three white baskets on my head. In the uppermost basket were all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head.” Genesis 40:16-17. Needless to say, there are severe consequences for those who betray, mishandle, or are not trusted with the resources within the society of the mark of the beast. Not only would the person lose their job and social integration, but it could also result in imprisonment. They are expected to have extraordinary skill, talents, uncanny knowledge, and heightened intuition to be successful in what they do. It is not anticipated that they would have problems with a flock of birds.

Today there is a thing that has power over physiology and is able to form and intrude on thoughts. They are the birds eating from the basket on the head of the followers of Jesus Christ. It plucks away the thoughts of the followers of Jesus which come from the Bread of Life, which is the Word of God and the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Also, those who live for the mark of the beast are endowed with uncanny knowledge and heightened intuition to parrot words that serve to eat away the Bread of life from the heads of God’s people. The day of judgment is coming against those Christless birds, as spoken by Jesus Christ and represented through Joseph, “So Joseph answered and said, “This is the interpretation of it: The three baskets are three days. Within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head from you and hang you on a tree; and the birds will eat your flesh from you.” Genesis 40:18-19. Jesus Christ was raised from the dead after three days as evidence of the judgment to come after death. Those who oppose God, pluck away the need for Jesus Christ, and eat away at the Holy Spirit will suffer the death of eternal torment.

The Pharisees and Sadducees falsely accused Jesus of eating the bread of the Old Testament from the heads of the Jewish people. It was actually them who ate away the knowledge that would help the people to understand Jesus to be the fulfillment of prophecy. The Pharisees and Sadducees influenced the Romans to hang Jesus from the Cross to crucify Him. It was each one of us who deserved to hang on the tree, we carry the guilt of sin, but Jesus was sinless. After the death of Christ, God raised Him from the dead after three days, and now He will be the one this world answers to on the day of judgment.

As with Joseph, the judgment of God will come through Jesus Christ. Those of this world, who govern by the mark of the beast, thinks it’s a birthday party as they separate the society of those who live for them from everyone else. They make an open show of their ability to take the life of one and to prosper the life of another. The chief baker is like the one who failed the society of the mark of the beast and the chief butler is like the one who served the mark of the beast. The Holy Spirit speaks of that here, “Now it came to pass on the third day, which was Pharoah’s birthday, that he made a feast for all his servants; and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.” Genesis 40:20. When the society of the mark of the beast decides a person is not wanted, then false accusations, blame, and judgement begins to flow. It happens at work, school, in the home, and in every situation where groups gather. Their judgments are made according to the thoughts, feelings, and emotions imposed on them to build the society of the mark of the beast. In this type of environment, in today’s world, many forget Jesus Christ who has set them free from sin, and they embrace the honor and recognition of the society around them. They do not want to suffer the persecution that comes from rejecting the society of the mark of the beast. The Holy Spirit speaks of that here, “Then he restored the chief butler to his butlership again, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh’s hand. But he hanged the chief baker, as Joseph had interpreted to them. Yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph but forgot him.” Genesis 40:21-23.

God is going to turn this world upside down, or rather right side up when Jesus returns. The real party is going to be among those whose name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. We will be redeemed and vindicated because we blossom with the fruit of righteousness and glorify the name of Jesus who forgave our sin. “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Then he said to me, “Write: Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.” Revelation 19:7-8. The name of those not written in the Lamb’s Book of life will suffer eternal death in the torment of the lake of fire. They are those who eat away at the name of Jesus Christ, devour the Holy Spirit, and blaspheme God.

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
