Burning heat befalls the earth. “For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, and all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up,” says the Lord of hosts, “That will leave them neither root nor branch.” Malachi 4:1
The phrase “For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven...” sounds like what frequently appears in newspapers, on television, and is often quoted by government leaders at local, state, national, and global levels. Global warming is a present reality. It is the Fourth Plague described in Revelation 16:8-9., “Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory.” The more powerful the United Nations becomes as the one world government the hotter and more intense the burning heat of the sun becomes.
The burning heat is the judgment of God coming against the present world government and its global culture. They are those who are empowered by the atheistic entity that has power over physiology to give them what to think, feel, say, and do. This entity enlivens the image of the beast to live and speak through today’s culture as they are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they are given to say and do.
The atheistic entity, with power over physiology, replaces the conscience and spirit as people receive uncanny knowledge, heightened intuition, amazing physical abilities, uncanny authority over others, extraordinary talents and skills, uncanny emotional responses, etc. They do wickedly by denying God, scoffing at the need for the forgiveness of sin through Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit is not part of who they are. They are proud and do wickedly as in their attitude they boast, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” Revelation 13:4 The “beast” is of the image and mark of the beast. This verse is spoken about them, “And the day which is coming shall burn them up,” says the Lord of hosts, “That will leave them neither root nor branch.”
Global warming plays a significant role in dismantling the power center of the beast, as revealed in the Fifth Plague of Revelation 16:10-11. This event will leave the world government and its global culture devoid of power, stripping them of the extraordinary abilities previously described in the paragraph above. In this state of powerlessness, the Battle of Armageddon ensues, as stated in Revelation 16:12-17, followed by the Day of the Lord and the return of Jesus Christ.
As the scorching reality of global warming affects us today, the second coming of Jesus Christ is described as unexpected, like a thief in the night. Upon His return, He will finish His work, and the elements of this earth will dissolve in intense heat, as quoted below,
“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be laid bare. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.” 2 Peter 3:10-13
The Sun of Righteousness arises with healing for those who live for Jesus Christ. “But to you who fear My name the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings; And you shall go out and grow fat like stall-fed calves. You shall trample the wicked, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I do this,” Says the Lord of hosts.” Malachi 4:2-3
“But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in His wings…” The Sun of Righteousness represents Jesus Christ, the righteous Son of God, who arose from the grave after three days. We who honor the name of God the Creator see His Son, Jesus, arise with healing in His wings within our mind, soul, and spirit. The Holy Spirit within us is our guarantee of eternal life. “We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may walk in the newness of life.” Romans 6:4
Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my Savior,
Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!
Up from the grave He arose, with a mighty triumph o’er His foes,
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
and He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!
[Up From the Grave He Arose]
“And you shall go out and grow fat like stall-fed calves. You shall trample the wicked…” In Ezekiel’s time, there were calves that roamed freely, surviving on what the earth provided, without a keeper. Others were stall-kept, nourished by their caretakers, growing fat. We who honor God through Jesus Christ are compared to these “stall-fed” calves, with God as our keeper who nourishes our minds, spirits, and souls with the Holy Spirit’s presence. Satan is the wicked one, and trampling the wicked signifies overcoming disbelief in God, dismissing mockery of the need for sin’s forgiveness through Jesus Christ, and not obstructing the Holy Spirit’s presence.
“…for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I do this,” Says the Lord of hosts.” This present heaven and earth will be turned to ashes, including today’s world system and its global culture. These are those who live for the atheistic entity that replaces the human spirit and conscience to give people what to think, feel, say, and do. Global warming is already here and is the Fourth Plague described in Revelation 16:8-9. The more powerful the United Nations becomes as the one world government the hotter and more intense the burning heat of the sun becomes.
The phrase, “The Sun of Righteousness”, is the Holy Spirit’s way of letting us know that the sun’s intense heat, and the burning of the earth’s elements, are God’s judgment against those who reject His Son of Righteousness, Jesus Christ.
When our Lord Jesus Christ returns, He will finish turning this planet to ashes, “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be laid bare…” 2 Peter 3:10-13 They will be ashes under our feet because on the Day of the Lord, we will be taken home to live eternally with Jesus Christ, “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
John the Baptist and Jesus Christ Himself prepares us for His return. “Remember the Law of Moses, My servant, Which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.” Malachi 4:4-6
Moses directed attention to Jesus Christ, as did John the Baptist, and now it is time for us to focus our eyes upon Jesus. “O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see? Turn your eyes upon Jesus. There’s light for a look at the Savior and life more abundant and free. Turn your eyes upon Jesus.” [Church song].
Mt. Horeb, more commonly known as Mt. Sinai, is the site where Moses received the Ten Commandments among other statutes. These laws are detailed in Exodus chapters 20 to 31. Included are the laws regarding animal sacrifices, which served as atonement for the sin of the Israelites. These are often referred to as the “scarlet thread,” pointing to Jesus Christ as the sacrificial Lamb of God who takes away our sin. Moses wrote about Jesus Christ, through the “scarlet thread,” as affirmed by Jesus’ words to the Jewish people: “For if you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me” (John 5:46).
“For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” John 1:17
“Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. “Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,” bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.” Hebrews 3:3-6
John the Baptist is linked to Elijah, who was prophesied to pave the way for the arrival of our Lord Jesus Christ. The prophecy concerning John the Baptist at his birth was, “And you, child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare His ways…” (Luke 1:76). The Apostle Mark cites the Prophet Isaiah [Isaiah 40:3] in reference to John the Baptist: “As it is written in the Prophets: ‘Behold, I send My messenger ahead of You, who will prepare Your way before You.’ ‘The voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord; make His paths straight'” (Mark 1:2-3).
The angel Gabriel referred to Malachi 4:5-6 when linking John the Baptist to Elijah, “He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” Luke 1:17
In context of the verses of this post, “…the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.” refers to the first coming of Jesus the Christ. His coming was a great day because He brought the Good News of the forgiveness of sin and eternal life. His coming was a dreadful day because He brought the warning of condemnation, judgment, and eternal hell for those who reject God the Creator. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
The phrase, “…lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.” refers to the opportunity of repentance through the Salvation plan of God for whoever believes in Him through Jesus Christ, as quoted, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
