Growth in Jesus Christ is By the Holy Spirit, Rejection of the Holy Spirit is Bad News

Hebrews 6:1-7

God permits us to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Bible Scriptures when we are established on the foundation of Jesus Christ. When we are not rooted in the Gospel of Christ, there is a falling away from God, and where there is blaspheme against the Holy Spirit there is no repentance. There are fruits of blessings to those who grow in Jesus Christ but thorns of condemnation to those who evict the Holy Spirit.

  • Growth is According to the Permission of God.
  • Blaspheme of the Holy Spirit is Unforgiveable.
  • Fruits of Blessing and Thorns of Condemnation.

Growth is According to the Permission of God.
Why would not God allow us to grow in grace and knowledge? Because we are not rooted in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ who brings atonement for sin and eternal life. We need to be able to move forward by building on the elementary principles of Jesus Christ, “And this we will do if God permits.” It’s like a teacher walking into the classroom and saying, “We need to move on from Chapter one so that we can master the book,” as is written, “Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection.” But the students are still asking questions about the very foundations that make the rest of the chapters relevant, although they should be on chapter twelve, as is said, “not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

We need to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. On that foundation, we grow in the process of sanctification through the Holy Spirit, and we grow in the understanding of the Holy Scriptures.

“Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection,
not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,
of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
And this we will do if God permits.”
Hebrews 6:1-3

Blaspheme of the Holy Spirit is Unforgiveable.
If a person once came to God for the forgiveness of sin through Jesus Christ, and then turned away from the Holy Spirit, it would not end well. The Holy Spirit is what enables us to grow in Christ, to glorify the name of Jesus, and to have fellowship with God. The down payment that is given to us for the eternal life to come is the Holy Spirit in us. Rejecting the Holy Spirit is what stagnates growth, discards the Deity of Jesus Christ, refuses eternal life, and severs fellowship with God. People who evict the Holy Spirit are crucifying Jesus Christ, and it is impossible for them to renew their repentance. “But he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation” Mark 3:29

If it hurts just a little itsy-bit to read that, then the Holy Spirit is still working in you, you can return to Jesus Christ. Today, if you hear His voice harden not your heart.

Those who decide to live for the mark of the beast, wearing the clothes of humanism, are blaspheming the Holy Spirit. The thing that has power over physiology works against the foundations of Jesus Christ by forming thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and emotions for people to follow. It turns people into flesh and blood robots. Those artificial feelings and thoughts serve to discard the need for Jesus Christ, ignores the Holy Spirit, and mocks God. The unGodly intent is to turn people into the seat of government for the mark of the beast. God tells us that people are created to be the temple of the Holy Spirit, and there is no Salvation for those who are hardened against the Holy Spirit.

“For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit,
and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come,
and have fallen away, to renew them again to repentance,
since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God and put Him to an open shame.”
Hebrews 6:4-6

Fruits of Blessing and Thorns of Condemnation.
When the Holy Spirit is often on us, He glorifies the name of Jesus and the testimony of Christ is talked about, “For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessing from God.” If we become a basket of sour grapes, or reject the Deity of Jesus Christ, or despitefully mock God, or make life difficult for God’s people, there is a curse instead of a blessing, “but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned.”

“For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it,
and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessing from God;
but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed,
whose end is to be burned.”
Hebrews 6:7-8

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
